  • I wonder if the market can establish a dominance to fend off Amazon when it arrives. Probably not as Amazon is huge.

However if you think about trademe they did pretty well and eBay / Craigslist etc aren't used here much at all.

Much prefer NZ based companies paying NZ tax. It's a shame that the alternatives to Uber haven't been that successful.

I wonder if Trade Me is still paying NZ tax…haha

      • just a matter of time. i'm surprised the new owners ( PE firm) haven't cleared the offices here in NZ and move them overseas yet. covid probably got in their way.

  • Are you still able to get the $20 voucher and free membership for 6 months? Saw your comments and the link is now gone.

    • Not yet but hopefully they bring it back. I entered my details when the form was still there but haven't heard from them since.

      • Thanks - I'll keep an eye out as well

  • Just got a message from 1-Day via Messenger.

    I asked:

Could you please clarify, is 1-day.co.nz going to disappear and be only on Themarket.com?

    Response:

Yes that is correct, you will still be able to shop for all of 1-Day products via The Market website. You will be directed to The Market website when you click on the 1-Day link.

  • Considering that The Market is run by the Warehouse Group and they own:
    - Noel Leeming
    - The Warehouse (obvs)
    - Warehouse Stationery,
    - Torpedo7
    - TheMarket; and
    - 1-Day

Looks like they will make a push for anyone to use The Market as much as they can - the idea is great, but when you're not paying for membership, their shipping costs are ridiculous.

  • wonder if it also means the end of the studentcard discount

  • +3

Bunch of new posts just popped up over at The Market.

Qualifying 1-Day customers only - if you're not sure if you qualify, check your email for your invite

    • Thanks for sharing. Can you do multi vouchers? Or best to use the $20 one and wait?

      Got the email straight away;
Your free 6 month MarketClub+ membership (valued at $30) is ready to use. Enjoy Free Shipping on eligible items with orders over $45.

We’ll be in touch again soon with your $20 coupon

Looks like they might be validating the coupon so best not to sign up to all right off the bat

      • I didn't have an email invite but signed up using @Wakrak's link above for the $20 voucher.
Got the email same as you confirming 6 months membership.
Will wait and see if the coupon arrives but wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't, given I didn't get an invite email.

        • MarketClub+ is applied when I login, so got that at least.. not that I know what is even worth getting off there.

          • @Foodie: Wish they had more 'free shipping, $5 minimum spend' deals instead of it always being a $45 minimum.

          • @Foodie: My $20 coupon just arrived.
Not sure what they were validating, but I'll take it!

            • @bigcheese: Is there a minimum spend or $20 off $20?

              • @Wakrak: Minimum spend is $20.10 (excludes shipping and alcohol and Apple products).
                One time use.
                Expires 31/8/22

            • @bigcheese: You have to have a 1-day account and a themarket account using the same email address. And you only get the $20 one if you don't already have the marketclub + membership.

              • @sunshinenz: Yes you're right.
The coupon I received was actually for my wifes 1-day/Market account (shared mailbox so I just assumed it was for the new account I signed up for last night).

I'm guessing I might not receive the loyalty coupon then for my new account.

            • @bigcheese: Sweet, got mine as well.
              Expiry or 31st August 2022

            • @bigcheese: Did coupon come in email or is it added to themarket account?

              • +1

@ace310: Confirmation of coupon is in the email - not the coupon itself.
Coupon is in The Market account.

1-day will disappear on 14 Feb.

  • oof does that mean you lose any warranties you had for products purchased via 1-day?

    • I would say no.
It is still the same company owned by The Warehouse Group, just a different platform so should make no difference to your warranty.

  • I haven’t moved to the market but can’t login to 1day account. I’d placed few orders but no updates yet.
Is there any way to find out the status?
    Thanks in anticipation.

    • +1

Unfortunately I don't think there is…one would assume you'd be able to check your 1-day orders on Market but that doesn't seem to be the case. 1-day orders prior to the shutdown of 1day website does not show up on the Market order status list.

As someone who has moved the the Market and had placed an order on 1-day on 13th Feb, I found out that there really isn't anyway to access your 1-day orders and really have to sit on your hands and wait on their emails. Fortunately I got my order dispatch email today (16th Feb) so I don't need to access 1-day anymore.

My best guess is that you should be able to contact 1-day through Market and go through that route.

      • +1

        Yep no way to check.

There are quite a few people commenting on the 1-Day FB page asking for updates on their orders.

  • Question nobody asked (yet).

So how do we access our old purchases from 1-day? Of course, I don't delete my emails when it comes to purchases for 1-2 years, but if I need support and proof of purchase, will they merge it to The Market?

    • +1

Probably a good way to flush out a large group of people who can't find proof of purchase for things like warranty claims, etc…haha, but it's no difference from those who throw away their receipts

      • +1

For things like warranty claims though you don't need to have the receipt.
A bankl statement or credit card transaction list is sufficient to show you made a purchase.

  • Thanks everyone for enlightening me.
Just a hypothetical question, what should be the plan B in case the orders doesn’t turn up ?

  • +1

Just to update all orders received today 😇🙏
