$619 from Harvey Norman now. Or $596 from Noel Leeming on The Market with 5% discount and $20 off with Zip. Tempting. Thanks.
As ScoobyNZ said it depends on what you class as affordable.
How much do you want to spend? They all have different battery run times, suction ability etc and you will always pay more for a brand name like Dyson.
We have a Xiaomi cordless that works pretty well (I would need to check the model) bought from PBTech for a lot less than a Dyson.I hate paying through the nose for Brands - but bought a https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/p/dyson-outsize-total-clean/N2…
$1499 normally - it went on Sale to like 1200 late last year - and then bought it via the Market for another 10% off with one of their codes - so this dropped it down below 1k. Still a bit to be sure but a good deal for Dyson which is one of those brands that dont often discount - which is why the Market sitewide sale is good.
Might be expensive to some - but man its a very very good cleaner - the amount of shit it picked up from the carpet in our kids room which had already been vacuumed was impressive and scary at the same time. Our house is only 5 years old, but it has really put the spring back in the carpets - they are more like new now.
something to consider a kmart one as per news article

Depends what's 'affordable' to you? A Dyson v8 for $650?
