Buying a SSD help please

Just built my first computer, going to be using it for gaming. It has a 500gb Samsung 970 Evo Plus m.2 for the system drive and I'm looking at getting a 2tb version of the same drive to use for running games off. So the 2tb version is $308 from Amazon, I'm also grabbing this heatsink for $20 https://www.amazon.com.au/Heatsink-Cooler-Double-Sided-Silic…

Before I confirm the purchase any better/cheaper suggestions for the ssd or heatsink? I don't want to break the bank.

Cheers

  • If you don't want to break the bank you probably don't actually need something as good as the 970Evo Plus for just a games drive. Although $308 for the 2TB is a really good price though if that's all you're paying inc. shipping etc.

    • To be honest I couldn't find much cheaper than the Samsung and the ones I did find had middling to negative reviews. After doing a bit of research I decided against getting a heatsink as it seems they're not needed and can actually shorten the life of the drives.

  • $329 at pbtech, unsure if that $308 includes shipping.

Also, unless you are installing heaps of games would a 1TB drive be OK? They are about $200

    • Yeah that $308 included shipping. It was $294.50aud with free shipping. Already bought it now. I knew the SSD was an ok deal, I was more concerned about getting some opinions about the heatsink really, like should I spend more money getting one from a known brand or do cheap ones do the same job, but after reading up on them myself it seems it's not even a good idea to use them so I'm glad I posted the question and gave myself time to do my homework before completing the purchase.
