Amazon Kindle Voyage (Refurbished) $98.99 @ PB Tech

100
FREESHIP

This is an excellent deal on a Refurbished Kindle Voyage if you do not need Audiobook support.

Compared to the current Kindle Touch model you get:

  • Capacitive Buttons for page-turning
  • Close to twice the screen resolution (Clearer text)
  • Better lighting (Autobrighness)
  • Lighter, Shorter and Thinner.
  • Flush Bezel
  • $10 cheaper

The Caveats are

  - No Bluetooth so it can't play Audiobooks.
 - 4GB storage vs 8GB (But can still give you 1000s of books)
 - Advertisements for the Kindle Store on the lockscreen.
 - May have some marks on case as Refurbished (Mine is in perfect condition though)

If you just want a cheap eReader for books this is an excellent option.

P.S Use FREESHIP and you get free shipping :)

    Released November 4, 2014 (Generation 7)
    6-inch, 1072 × 1448 pixels, 300 PPI density, 16-level grayscale, LED front-lit, 4GB

The current Generation 11 Kindle spec is similar
    6.8-inch, 1236 x 1648 pixels, 300 PPI density, 16-level grayscale, LED front-lit, 8GB

    • 11th Gen is the Paperwhite model which is $220.

The Kindle Touch which is $110 is the 10th gen and has significantly worse specs (Except storage)

      6-inch (150 mm), 600 × 800 pixels, 167 PPI density, 16-level grayscale, LED frontlit 8GB

    • So this one at the PB Tech is the 2014 'gen 7' model right?

      • Correct.

  • No Bluetooth so it can't play Audiobooks

    eh?

      no headphone jack on these

      • Oh

        • back to cellphone then

          • @coffeee: Yeah. For audiobooks a phone is a better option. I hate reading actual books on them though.

  • Any advice on alternatives for around $100 - $150

Kobo Nia or the Kindle Touch are the only options. You might be able to find a second hand Paperwhite 4 for around $150

Can this be used to view library books via Overdrive / Libby, with NZ libraries? If so is there a guide or video showing how to do this?

    • No, Overdrive works with Kobos.

    • Calibre is your friend

    • Ended up a kobo for this reason. Considered Calibre and the like but I know my wife would prefer something easy, and from what I can tell Kobo can link directly with Overdrive
