Dishwasher recommendations and experiences

I am in the market for a new dishwasher and was hoping fellow cheapies could weigh in with their opinions and experiences.

I'm looking for a model with a few extra features I either stainless Steel or dark colours.

I have found this example so far. https://www.heathcotes.co.nz/products/sms66ji01a-bosch-60cm-…

Appreciate any guidance this community can give especially with big purchases.

We have had our Bosch for about 12 years now; and asides from a replacement part (within warranty) it has been going strong. Would certainly buy again. Only thing that shows its age now is the labelling on the control panel is starting to give up (ever so slightly), and there is a small bit of surface rust (stainless lol) at the very bottom edge (can't really see it - yet)…but otherwise rock solid. We went from a cheap F&P one (which was noisy as anything; albeit fine for washing), to this and its been great.
    YMMV

Agree with that. I would normally just buy a cheaper brand rather than pay extra for something like a Bosch, but I picked up an older second hand Bosch for a couple of hundred and it does a significantly better job than any of the cheap ones (5-6?) I've ever owned. Would definitely look at one again if we needed to replace ours.

A 14 place setting Bosch, series 4 or 5, would be a good place to start.

I had the LG Matt Black Quad Wash. Purchased it as a warranty repair from Appliance Outlet (always ask them to reduce the freight/discount it further 👍😜)
Nearly everyone that saw it complimented how nice it looked. It worked great to! I've been considering getting another one to replace a useless parmco one 🙄

  • I recommend a double dishdrawer, it was a big step up from a traditionally dishwasher from us. Less bending and being able to run smaller loads is great. One can also keep one drawer clean while putting dirty dishes in the other which saves the futile chore of unloading the dishwasher if you pick straight from the clean drawer.

If it helps, Bosch and Miele have the best warranties, and are brilliant at supplying parts. I work for an electrical servicing company so see a LOT of warranties.

not a fisher and paykel product. never again. our house (9 years old) came with fisher and paykel appliances and the dishwasher blew, the gas hob doesn't spark so you need to use a lighter, the range hood only has 2 buttons that work, the oven only cooks on one side of what you're cooking and is painfully slow.

we have a bosch dishwasher now. it comes with a top draw for cutlery (instead of the plastic basket) and its great for big families and big gatherings

    • not to mention we have fisher and paykel dryers in our investment apartments, and both have broken (40 dollar belt replacement after 5 years of ownership)

Haier owns 90% of fisher and paykel now, all though I don't think they do dishwashers, I'd also avoid Haier.

If you're in Auckland, can recommend Abel Appliances https://www.ableappliances.co.nz/collections/dish-washing/fr…

They are a service agent for Bosch and seem to specualise in B grade stuff.

They still come with a warranty, but usually have a some sort of cosmetic issue. It's worth a trip to see what the issues are. We chose from several dishwashers, all of which just had dents in the side. Since it was going under a kitchen counter this didn't matter to us at all and we got a big discount on a higher end model.

That was about 7 years ago, and it's been super reliable for a big family, running once or even twice a day.
