Yeah I bought some recently for the first time, and had to go down one size to get the right fit. Theyre comfy, take a little getting used to, but my normal size were way to loose.
Yes, to me who wears 43EU/US9 best fits on Birks 41EU.
Apparently 'I really needed to choose one size down' is a gripe when completely new to Birks, so hopefully anyone like that can make use of their sizing and fitting guide here:

If anyone's keen on the Sonara Crosstown style in a EU 37 or EU 41 (Birko-Flor upper, strapped behind the heels), you can tell me to put them up on Trade Me or FB marketplace for you to check out. They were cleared by Torpedo7 online at a nice discount, but were too big for the women I had in mind.
