winter thermal recommendations

Hey i'm just wondering if anyone has thermal recommendations. Preferably high value for money but i don't necessarily need or want them to be the cheapest

I'm shopping for pants and tops for

Kids thermals 2yo or 5yo

Men's thermals

Thanks!

    Base Thermals - currently 3 for $40 https://www.basethermals.co.nz/
    Torpedo7 - currently buy 1 get 1 half price
    Kathmandu - currently 2 for $45

    • Who is base thermal? there website seems a bit dodge, no address, cant find them listed on companies register.

All i can tell is that by googling the phone number it leads to a merchandising company called 'Always Made Special'

      • I've bought through them several times.
        Quick delivery etc.

Likely they are a wholesaler running base thermals as a trade as name.
let me see if I can find an invoice from them for clarity.

      • Under their privacy policy
Base Thermals (“this website”) is operated by Apparel and Merchandising Solutions Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”). We respect the privacy of our website users (“you”, “your”) and are committed to protecting your security and privacy.

This matches the name of one of the returns I did to them.

  • thanks for letting me know youve ordered from them before. might give them a go

  • Might pay to compare materials, not just price: I notice that Base and TWH both have thermals made from polyester/viscose which is good but not as breathable and probably not quite as warm when wet as polypropylene or wool. I only looked at a couple on the Torpedo7 website but they seem to use "hollow core polyester", which I've not tried. TWH also have a Merino range which are much more expensive but quite good. Kathmandu have a good range of excellent quality polypropylene ones that are often on special from what I can tell.

  • Hi, not thermals but earthtec socks are incredible winter wear not cheap but last as well

  • I've had good experiences with Kathmandu ultra core.
    Not itchy material.
Seems to be renamed to KMDcore

  • After you try merino base layers you will really wonder why on earth you ever thought polyester was good. That smell urghhh..
I changed to icebreaker wool thermals. It really is an amazing product. Not at all itchy. You can just chuck it in the washing machine with everything else
But I find you don't need to wash it daily especially if you have a cotton T under the thermal layer.

  • Thanks for all the replies, i ended up with some kathmandu merino, purely for the comfort factor. bonus it was clearance so 3 for 60 kids thermals.

    • Good score!

Crackerjack also sell thermals, if you need more. Go instore as they have only a limited selection online.
