Not quite as good as the warehouse Stationery deal a few weeks back, but amazon has 20% off the Series S, and free delivery for AU$416.09 (including NZ GST, after removing Australian GST)

With Game streaming now in NZ, the 500GB storage is not as big an issue as it was a month or so ago!

  • Wouldn't game streaming be more useful for pc? If you're buying a dedicated gaming console, I would be making the most of the hardware.

The main thing I've been using streaming for on mine is the Xbox rewards quests. Previously you had to download and install the game to literally open it and claim the quest. Now I just stream it and the quests pops instantly. It was a faff managing games without it but now i don't have to do that just to claim reward points. It's also useful for games like flight simulator that is huge and really don't need quick reactions so the latency isn't a problem.

      • Yes, it could be very useful for things like your rewards quests, and great for flight sim. What I am saying about it being more useful for PC, is with streaming you no longer need to have the necessary hardware specs to run the game, whereas you still have the option to play fight sim on a xbox.

It provides a significant benefit to consoles, but the benefit is far greater for pc users.

If I was buying a dedicated gaming machine, I wouldn't want to use it as a video player. I think the main reason for game streaming is to play games without the hardware.

        • Fair points here - I have an X, and would consider an S as my second console.

As a lot of Xbox games are on PC already you’re probably pretty set, but if there are console exclusives this seems to be a pretty good product at a relatively low price (or a second console for PS/Nintendo owners)

      • I do exactly this too! Has saved me a fair bit of time not needing to install!

Xbox S is the lightweight new era version though (less processing power and onboard storage etc) so streaming makes huge sense for that particular one.
