Based on your last four forum posts,1 you might be better off doing a thread on 'good ways to make side money'. That way people might give you ideas that you hadn't thought of (just an idea).

      I think that’s good advice.

There are plenty of websites that will tell how to make a quick buck.
      They’re called scams.

Like the old saying goes ‘if something sounds too good to true then it probably is…’

  • It's profitable up to a point but then they start making life difficult to you, either limiting your winnings or blocking you entirely.

The NZ TAB pretty much refuse to take my money these days…

  • Most arbitrage opportunities are not worth the time and effort, as there are going to be many people trying to do the same thing, thus reducing the returns to the point where it only just makes sense.

Economically, you would expect that many of the things you can do to 'make money on the side' are going to be no better, perhaps a worse return on your time, than working in McDonald's (say) - that's the way markets work.

If you have a spare 10 hours a week, and you worked at McDonald's you'd make $200 (? don't really know for sure ?) less tax (somewhat depending on your other income / losses of course).

If you don't understand what Arbitrage is and have to rely on a website to tell you what bets to place..it's not for you. Thin margins can also be eaten up by currency conversion or withdrawal bank fees and as Martinprince said platforms will kick you out or reduce your bet size to limit their exposure to it.

As for survey stuff you tend to get the same surveys on multiple platforms so answering a second time takes less time.

If you are happy with Nielsen New Zealand knowing your browsing/purchasing habits..
Digital Voice(web) can be installed on your computer/mobiles and Homescan(barcode reader for household shopping) and they pay you for that information

  • Not worth Arbitrage betting. Typical arbitrage opportunity lasts only 15 minutes or less and 3% return. You have to stake big or often to make a decent return and one mistake (or if the odds move while you're placing your bets) can can cost you 10-20% easily.

Matched betting is much more profitable, especially with the aussie bookies - you do have to go through their AML/ID requirements and need an aussie bank account (or use a Wise account). The bonus back offers races can be extremely lucrative (until you get gubbed) however I suggest using an EV betting system rather than actual matched betting for those - if you can stand the fluctuations. Benefits are higher returns and less work (you don't spend all Saturday afternoon stuck in front of your PC frantically trying to lay off bets minutes before each race).

    • If I bet on the aussie bookies and use ANZ to deposit money into my account, does ANZ charge money for a currency exchange?

      • Most betting sites take payment via credit card. You will be charged currency conversion fees and some credit cards automatically treat this as a cash advance.

  • Tried joining a ton of online casinos for the 'free' spins. Scams every single time, still getting spam emails too 4 years later

  • Have one suggestion.
Organise a poker night for your workmates, charge a buy in price for snacks and drinks. Make a little off that and if your smarter than average you'll do well on top. Also extremely satisfying fleecing workmates that bug you a little lol and a fun night all round
