Best office chair

Hey,

I am going to get a new office chair. Any suggestions for good ones that don't cost a fortune?

I saw this one but it really blows out the budget https://crestline.co.nz/products/sidiz-t50/

Clicked that link and have been seeing nothing but AKRacing chair ads ever since… 😡

      • Sounds like you need an adblocker. I forget that there are ads on Cheaps.

Browser: I use uBlock Origin & AdGuard
iPhone: I have a Blokada cloud subscription

          I second uBlock Origin.
Definitely the best I have used and what's more it's completely free.

I use uBlock Origin on all my laptops and have limited ad blocking with OpenDNS at the edge of the network, but I have been meaning to install PiHole to block everything (like this) that gets through to mobile devices. I haven't rooted the mobiles, so ad blocking options on device are limited.

@CheapAzChips: I second PiHole as a great option. Especially if you've already got a NAS or Plex Server etc that is running 24/7

Otherwise there are Raspberry Pi and cheaper alternatives that you can pickup for doing this

Last weekend I got myself the Buro Roma 3 lever for $160 off TradeMe.

So much better than the chair I had previously.

Recommend taking a look at the second-hand market.

    • Agreed! Got a buro second hand and it’s been great. Was under $100 for a basic one. Can’t go wrong with them!

+1 on the Buro Roma 3. Bought one a month ago and couldn't be happier. Very comfy 8+ hour task chair with plenty of padding on the seat and back. Nice and big too (both seat and back), so good for us tall people (6'4" for reference and long in the torso). Well priced too - I got one new for $366 from Dobbins Furniture in Wellington.

    • We have three of these. Very good chairs and comparable in quality to what I have at work.

  • I have one from Warehouse Stationery, and it is really comfy (to me - your derrier may disagree) and holding up well at about two years old and used probably 35 to 40 hours a week.

I think we paid about $150 for it (about two years ago - mid to late 2020 I believe), so costing a lot more now :-(

I'd say you really have to sit in a chair to decide if it is going to work for you personally - not something I would want to purchase sight-unseen or based on some random stranger's recommendation (and I am definitely stranger!)

    Alan.

    Go with something classy

    • Chair envy!

Not sure how it would be on my old back though.

Just press Ctrl+Alt+Del and your back will reset with that chair.

        • Buy what if PEBKAC? Which one???

  • I would suggest AK racing too. Go into a store and try out their range. Different range for different requirements, e.g. I have the ProX as I am quite tall.

Purchased the Buro Metro II High back 24/7 a month ago. Bit pricey but I've never been more comfortable working from home.

Would recommend going secondhand if you don't want to front up the $$

  • Try find a used Formway Life chair on Trademe

  • +1 for Formway Life chairs, but they aren't cheap though :-(
At least you'll know your back is well supported etc.

    • They were cheap second hand a while back, but not now tho lol

  • $20 yoga/gym ball. Your core will say thanks.

  • We run Formway Life chairs. They are about $1000 new, but can be had for $250 - $330 used.
