Got this model off Trade Me last year. Great vacuum. Ali is the place to go to for parts.

Pain in the ass to set it up with Alexa but definitely doable. Just have to create a routine for each room.

Example (how I have mine setup):

    • Roborock app: name the rooms
    • Alexa app: using the same room names, create a routine

    Name: Robo study
    When: Alexa, clean the study
Action: Alexa, ask robo rock to clean the study

    • I usually get my parts from the Redrock Store

I made the mistake of ordering from a random store once (Ecomaid vacuum store, or could be that I ordered the wrong part), and the main brush I got would continuously hit the ground. Made it very noisy.

      • What parts do you find you need to order/replace and how often?

        • Main brush, side brush, filter, wheel etc. Just good to have a stash of parts / accessories for when they need to be replaced.

The Roborock also gives you an idea as to when to replace / clean certain parts.

          My maintenance

        • I keep rotating brush and filter after 10-15 days as I wash them later when I get time. Very convenient and always have spare in case you need them.

  • I have the S5. Would replace tomorrow if it broke. SO good.

The Roborock app is meant to be the best, but weirdly doesn't work with the S5. I've had to use the Xiaomi app, which is a bit buggy.

Integration with Google Home was fine 'Google, Start Rosie' (you get to name the robots).

S7 has a tower it can return to and empty the collected dirt which would be nice, but not essential.

    Worth every dollar.

And as @Wakrak mentioned, spare parts off Aliexpress are plentiful and cheap. Nowhere in Chch will repair them (Aside from a $50 service at Godfreys), so have taken mine apart completely a few times but even that's not hard, and I'm no electrical engineer. But just getting parts from Aliexpress to replace the filters/brushes is very easy.

  • I had the xiaomi mop cleaner and I found that the water tank often dropped off while mopping (often because the furniture corner hit the water tank release button), looks like this one has the same water tank design, does it fall off too?

    • +1

Hasn't fallen off once for me. Perhaps the sensors on this one are better than those on the mop cleaner you're referring to?

    • +1

I have the xiaomi 1c and the tank has never fallen off in almost a year of use. Though I use the tank maybe once in few weeks.

  • looks like the S7 is discounted too, is it worth the extra $300 compared to S6?

  • +2

I bought this about a year ago for $720. I really like it. Mopping is really just dragging a damp cloth around so wouldn't recommend if you're really looking for great mopping but generally a very good vacuum. Great price.

    • +3

I agree. Mopping = floor wetting function (as apposed to stain removing function).

I picked up a Bissell PowerFresh Deluxe Steam Mop for $149 (JB Hi-Fi) and the difference is (as to be expected) like night and day.

      • How/when did you get THAT deal Obi-Wak?

        • +1

Lucky last floor model at JB Hi-Fi Hamilton (a couple months back).

  • Just came accross this on Reddit

Amazon.com Inc will acquire iRobot Corp, maker of the robotic vacuum cleaner Roomba, in an all-cash deal for about $1.7 billion in the latest push by the world's largest online retailer to expand its stable of smart home devices.

    • +1

iRobot are definitely a bit salty that PB sells Roborock in NZ the price is unbeatable 2k or 700 for a robot vac what will most people choose?

    • Also reading how it also acquried a mapping company to map out your house.

  • I have always been a bit confused between the models from Xiaomi and Roborock.
Is this model better than the Mi Smart?
    Thanks

  • +1

would you even consider Xiaomi Mi Smart Robot Mop 2 Lite or the Roborock is a clear winner?

    • roborock is far better in reviews

  • Is the this roborock S6 PURE good for ordinary carpet at home. I concern the suction is not good enough. is it smart enough to avoid the table legs chair legs in a 50-square meter city apartment? thank for sharing your real experience.
