Any on broadbandcompare that tickles your fancy? (August deals).

    Or Skinny 3 months free.

What are you currently paying and for what?

    • Thanks! I will check it out.

I've just recently given notice to 2Degrees and signed up to Skinny with 3 months free starting at the beginning of September.

Note that now is the perfect time to cancel 2degrees even if you are under contract as they are offering no termination fees due to the impending price increase as long as you do so within 30 days of being notified.
Here's the link with the information

i just moved to slingshot for 12months for 58 p/month on fibre 300.
    Deal available through broadbandcompare.co.nz

Averages similar - $58.50 for Skinny over 12 months.
This is based on $78 month but with first 3 months free.

Iv done the same, getting Fibre ultra for $55/month for 12 month ($22 and a $20 discount) as Iv transferred power too. Power was pretty much the same as what I was paying with Mercury, so a no brainer.

  • My 2degrees bill is only going up by $3, why is yours going up by $14?

    • Going up for all plans by $3. The OP's price might be going up due to their current plan ending

    • @ulcerrator I think because my contract ended.

  • 2Degrees is offering a discount if you rejoin, I think $16/m off.
It seems like the best offer (for me) for Ultra Fast Fiber 900mbps, Amazon Prime and for $91/m

    • Oh and my mobile plan is with 2Degrees so also included is $10/m off

    • Yes it is $16 mth discount for the Ultimate Plan for rejoining, which I did a year ago.
In my experience over the past year I don't believe I need Gigabit speed. The 300Mbps will be more than adequate as I haven't noticed any perceivable difference.
Keep in mind they also charge a 1.75% credit card payment fee.

Overall, my dealings with 2Degrees has not been bad unless you need to get hold of them.
They don't have a call back service so my last two phonecalls have taken over an hour on hold to get through.
I guess I'll find out when I switch to Skinny in the coming weeks.

      • 1.75% card fee? Really!
Skinny is looking very attractive at $78pm with 3 months free ($702p.a) with free modem/connection on 12month contract.
I setup my Brother with them last year and he has been quite happy at 300Mbps.
Looking to sign up myself before EoM.

  • anyone is using broadband with Contact bundle. my skinny 6m free deal is towards the end now.

  • Anyone know when does the Skinny 3 months free promo ends? Doesn't say when one has to sign up by.

    Does Skinny accept Amex?

    • +1

it never ends. skinny 3 months free has been running for years.

    • Skinny doesn't accept Amex

Noticed they increased the broadbandcompare price by $10 too ($57 now $67 a month).

  • I think skinny 3 months free is the best deal currently for fibre. Looking to change in a week or so.

Can you downgrade from giga to 300 speed after 3 months without affecting contract?

  • hoping for skinny 6 months free to come back.

  • I've just this moment signed up to Skinny. Was with Slingshot, but my 12 months has just rolled over.

    Thanks team.

  • Anyone has problems with connection with skinny? Last night we were planning to switch out broadband provider from 2degree to someone else, hubby said skinny has a lot of bad reviews online about their connection.

    • You need to make sure what type of connection those reviews are referencing. Skinny has 4g wireless broadband & fibre. I believe most of the complaints will be from 4g wireless broadband but could be wrong.

Also, many times it's the configuration or way things are setup by users is not ideal causing issues.

    • Also those that have a positive experience tend not to complain nor leave a positive response. I'd take most of the complaints with a grain of salt.

      • I agree.
I've just given notice to 2Degrees in the past couple of weeks of my intention to change to Skinny so haven't actually changed yet.
However, Skinny could not have been more helpful so far.
Router arrived promptly and they were really fast to repond to my query requesting to change my connection date from what I initially proposed.
2Degrees on the other hand have been painfully slow at sorting issues.

        • What router skinny is providing nowadays? about to sign up soon. Not intending to use their router, but just wondering.

          • @ace310: https://www.skinny.co.nz/broadband/smart-modem

One I got. It's decent. Haven't had any issues with it.

            • @Wakrak: Thanks looks good one. Currently have an asus router (Asus RT-AC59U) and don't intend to change it, but will see how it works out. I have orbi wired mesh for wifi so don't worry about wifi performance as it will be disabled anyway.

          • @ace310: Assuming it’s the same as what Wakrak mentioned in his comment.
I’ll check tonight - it’s still in the box at the moment!

    • so far so good, still in the free months period:)
