Chilly Bin Recommendations

Looking for a smallish chilly bin for the back of the car when we go away for weekend trips.
Don't need anything huge but would like something decent while not too pricy that can keep our raw dog food, drinks etc cold over a couple/few days.

Was looking at these:

The reviews on the Supercheap one seem a bit average so leaning towards the Dometic.

  • Following this convo. I had a loyal 27 litre one for 20 years almost. It's seen me from late teens summer parties to now camping with kids. Ideally we need two. I'd say a 40-50l and a 20l.

Last Christmas I nearly got one from bunnings but I don't know what is good quality or not. Happy to pay for quality, especially on discount.

  • The Dometic ones are pretty solid, Its what we use at work for vaccine transport / offsite use.

  • As an alternative you could get one of those portable fridge/freezers that are designed to go in the car / camping.

We use one, it plugs into the car cigarette lighter, but also has a mains plug to plug into the wall. We use it when we go on air bnb road trip. We bought ours from container door. It can go below zero but struggles if the ambient temperature is high so we use it as a fridge rather than a freezer.

If you were going camping without ac power then I wouldn't recommend the cheap container door model.

  • Dometic! I have one for every occasion now :) Pricey but worth every cent.

  • Repco has a current special on DUSC ice boxes. $75 for the 21L and $134 for the 46L

Cant comment on quality, but the look on par.

20L is very small for a weekend! I would go bigger.
