Hi all, I'm looking for somewhere in Auckland to keep my car while I'm away for 5 months, rather than selling it. Any suggestions? Considering storage, airport parking ($5/day), but keen to hear other thoughts.

Just park it on the road somewhere - as long as it has a warrant and rego, there is no law against it . Obviously a little risk, but I guess you could mitigate this a bit by having it in a place that is well trafficed. I used to park my car on the road everynight for a decade in Grey Lynn as had no driveway and never had an issue - a few times went away for a month or so and no issue - so really luck of the draw.
And if it got towed, well I'm sure that the $150 towing fee isn't too bad compared to $5 per day parking haha
If you park on a road with no time restrictions, you should be fine.
There was a car parked on Taylors Road for 2 years with an expired rego (and wof aswell)
after 2 years of sitting, there was a note (assuming a notice that it would be towed) which was up for a month or two before it was finally towed
also seen a car parked on the side of the road with a flat tyre for about 6 months whilst the owner must've been overseas
A friend's place?
