Wise Digital Card Replacement Issues

Is anyone having issues with replacing or creating new digital/virtual cards on Wise?

I was attempting to replace a digital card tonight but the 'replace' option wasn't showing, so I deleted the card instead. Now the option of creating new digital cards has disappeared altogether from my account :(

  • Must be a Wise issue - same thing for me.
    Tried to create a new card yesterday and couldn't add another one. Deleted a card, still couldn't add one.
    Now I've only got my physical card and one virtual left.
    Hopefully fixed soon.

  • I was trying yesterday to create a digital card on the site. Went through all required steps previously with creating account etc and there was no option to create a digital card.

    It was really wierd as the earlier times I had logged in a week or so before showed option to create digital card…

    In the end I didn't create one.

    • Glad to hear they're working on it. Was hoping digital cards hadn't been Cheapied with all of those free trials catching up on us.

    There has been a bit of talk in the discord about this since late last week. Sounds like it was a technical issue on their end effecting NZ customers.

    @Sean still not working for me though. Perhaps its literally just been fixed and taking a while to update effected accounts

    Wasn't good timing when I needed another Neon sub to watch this week's House of Dragons.
    Good to see it's not just me though and a fix seems to be on the way

  • Me too. Unlikely timing for me as I only signed up last week lol

    • I was trying to get the 3 month Spotify trial that ended on Sunday and couldn’t get a card generated.
      Got it sorted with a different card but bit of a last minute panic.

      • Ha ha . Same here cheese . Lol I had some panic until one of my other debits worked

  • Digital cards was working yesterday , but, the sky trial stopped accepting wise digital cards.

    Now, today, I see there is no option to create a digital card on the wise site.

    Seems like things are in development. Not sure where it will end up.

    • Just now I created a new Wise digital card and successfully completed the purchase of a monthly plan / trial.

      • Just about to say the same thing.
        Created an account for a 7 day trial no issues.

      • Hmm, the option to create a digital card has vanished for me.

        I created several yesterday, and sky wouldn't accept them. Maybe I created too many? There is no message or warning though.

        • Guessing it's a Wise issue in that the cards you created may not have been valid, due to the issues they've been having.

            But, on skysportnow it said the card number had already been used and was ineligible for 7 day trial.

            • @jedmeister: Have you used that card with SkySport previously? I am guessing not, as you said above that you had 'created several yesterday', but just checking.

              If not, then perhaps try creating one more new one, and trying that.

              • @Alan6984: No, it was a new digital card number that I used… used browser incognito mode, and the newly created digital card number (i delete the digital card after using it).

                I can't create new digital cards now for some reason. Maybe too many checks?

                • @jedmeister: Not sure if too many 'checks' could be an issue - it seems unlikely, but can't rule it out.

        • Definately been having some issues, however its working on my end, I can replace all my digitals

    • Just guessing here. But maybe someone might be tracking IP for fraudulent activity due to which many attempts might trigger this.

  • The wise digital card creation started working again, made a new card, changed my ip address, went incognito on windows 10 / chrome , signed up for free trial using usual gmail with the +trialxx on the email address so that it is unique … enter the newly generated digital CC number… and I get this…

    "FREE TRIAL STATUS
    This account has already redeemed a free promotional trial and therefore does not qualify for additional free days. By clicking Accept below, you are acknowledging this information and that future packages will be without a free trial."

    On the wise card website, this is showing as a transaction…

    But, you others say it is working ok for you? What could I be doing wrong?

    • Try creating an an account without the gmail + trick.
      I have had this issue before so try a completely unique email address.

      • I get the same issue of trial already used. I had a fresh email and new wise card generated yesterday.

        Anyone able to get this to work? Looks like it is tracking IP. Can't get the vpn to work as well.

        • If you used a VPN, then definitely not that they are tracking IPs (unless you used the same VPN last time, and happened to get the same IP again, but that's generally unlikely).

          • @Alan6984: I meant they detect if vpn is on or not. Couldn't go any further with vpn.

            Not sure what combinations they check. Home ip might have been same for last month or so. Tried to register again for another trial within a month. Both email and different wise card. It was unique email and tried in private browser.

    • Maybe SparkSport are 'cleaning up' the email address by removing the '+' and everything after it up to the '@' before checking prior use - that is something I have seen many companies do over the years.

      The whole 'plus' thing in Gmail and other providers is really not effective if the other party doesn't want it to be - better to use a proper obfuscater (such as duck.com emails) if you want to go that way. Your own domain is arguably better, but slightly more complicated to setup - albeit potentially easier to use once in place - and if you don't already have one, adds a small annual cost.

  • My option to create cards is gone again. I just replaced it 3 times and now the option to replace and create is gone. Wise might have a limit of 3 new virtual cards or another bug.

      You can hold 3 virtual cards at a time and you can get new card details up to 3 times in a day.
      Because you have already generated 3 new cards in a day you’re at the limit.

      Wow! I have been with Wise for at least a year, maybe longer, and I have only destroyed two cards, and created five in total (excluding the physical one).

      What are you doing with them :-)

  • Just signed up for Wise this morning and have ordered a physical card but cannot see where i can create a digital card? Can anyone guide me in the right direction please? Thanks

    • You can create it either on the wise.com website or on the app.

      On the website: Select 'Cards' and then 'New Card'
      On the App: Choose 'Card' and then swipe until you see 'Get Digital Card' on screen.

        On the website when i click ‘new card’ it just takes me to a white screen.
        On the app when i press ‘card’ i’m taken to a screen with a photo of a card and this message ‘We're preparing your card order - check back in a couple of minutes.’

        It’s been like that since this morning. Do i need to wait til my physical card arrives before i can create a digital one?

          You definitely don't need to wait for the physical card to arrive.
          I thought the digital card was available pretty much straight away but I may be wrong.
          Possibly need to wait until it's moved from preparing your card to dispatched.

          • @bigcheese: I'm almost certain my virtual cards were available immediately after I had ordered my physical one.

            That was some time ago, so maybe it has changed?

                  @Martz5: Pretty much anything that has a free trial you can use it for.
                  I also use it if buying online - means you can freeze or delete the card as soon as your order is processed. Stops anyone else from using your card details.

                  I use a wise virtual card for almost everything online myself.

                  @Martz5: It has good conversion rates compared to many credit cards. I use it with Amazon and AliExpress (pay in usd).

                  • @ace310: So do you just keep creating new digital cards once you sign up to free trials? Do you then delete the cards or keep them in your account?

                    • @mickey9876: I will often use the same card number for a few different trials and then delete it.
                      You can only have 3 digital cards at a time so they need to be deleted and a new card created if you want to repeat a trial and have used all your cards.

                    • @mickey9876: I keep the card (albeit frozen) unless and until I have a good reason to kill it (fourth trial of something perhaps!)

                      If it is frozen, then no risk anyway.
