What Happened to Warehouse "Parallel Imported" Clothing?

I remember a few years back when the warehouse especially was very big on this.
There was a ton of branded clothing like DC, Converse, Puma, Levi's, Wrangler, Haviana that they sold
It was advertised heavily and there were some amazing prices.
Now? Nothing.
Do you think the manufacturers cracked down on it?
Or are people just buying more offshore themselves so it's pointless for a retailer to do it themselves.
It did seem to cheapen the brand quite a lot with everyone running around in $20 converse shoes and $10 DC hoodies.

More recently they have had a few things, like TVs, but I haven't seen them do any clothing in forever.

Yeah, I remember their red rack clothing, etc. Have they stopped selling those? I would guess it doesn't work for their positioning, TWH is associated with "cheap junk" most of the time, branded clothing doesn't seem to fit in there.

Costco seems to be carrying quite a number of branded clothing, if you're in Auckland. Not sure about how cheap, not many people talked about them since they opened.

No idea why TWL have stopped, but there is nothing that manufacturers can do to stop it, since parallel importing is perfectly legal in NZ - it isn't like they are smuggling or passing off fakes.

TWL would not have any reason to care if it 'cheapened' the brands that I can see.

Not impossible that the brands are paying TWL to stop doing it I guess, but that does seem a little unlikely.

    Interesting question!

Outsized levels of theft on the range have stopped them from importing the clothes. Red rack was regularly targeted by shoplifters.
