Price Beat List of Stores

After Warehouse changed its price promise to just a match thought it would be good to get a list of stores that price beat one another.
Some that I can think of as I use them but if there are more please let me know!

Bunnings

Beat by 15%

Our lowest prices policy means that if you find a competitor's lower price (including GST and delivery charges) on the same in-stock item that's available for same-day delivery or collection, we'll beat it by 15%. This excludes trade quotes, stock liquidations and commercial quantities.

Mitre 10

Beat by 15%

If you find a lower price on an identical in-stock product, we will beat it by 15%.
Excludes special quotes, on-account (credit and cash) purchases, stock liquidations and commercial quantities.
The same in-stock product must be available to you for same-day delivery or collection. Includes GST and delivery charges.
If you find the same product cheaper from another Mitre 10 store or online at www.mitre10.co.nz we'll match that price. The in-store price may be lower than that advertised.

Spotlight

Beat by 10%

FIND A CHEAPER PRICE ON THE SAME STOCKED ITEM AND WE'LL BEAT IT BY 10%

Briscoes

Beat by 10%

If you find a lower advertised retail price on an identical item which is currently in stock, upon confirmation we’ll beat the price by 10% on the spot or online. This applies to New Zealand retailers but excludes warehouse, clearance outlets and online-only retailers.

Rebel Sport

Beat by 10%

If you find a lower advertised retail price on an identical item which is currently in stock, upon confirmation we’ll beat the price by 10% on the spot or online. This applies to New Zealand retailers but excludes warehouse, clearance outlets and online only retailers.

Supercheap Auto

If you find a cheaper price online or in-store for an identical or comparable product, we'll beat it! Simply show the lower price, including any freight or other charges, to one of our Team in-store or via online chat, and we'll beat it.

Tonys Tyre Service

By $10 a Tyre

Find a lower cash price and we guarantee to beat it by $10 a tyre on a similar quality product. It's as simple as that.

Anyone can update that Wiki page (I think).

Thanks for that - I didn't know that page existed! Made my day haha!

  • There's something to be said for stores that pay on a commission too like harveys or noel leeming. You can trade having to sit through a warranty pitch for getting a bit knocked off of the lowest price on pricespy

  • I recently had a price beat denied at Bunnings because the other item was ‘on sale’ at the other retailer. I asked her when that had changed as I’ve previously been able to price beat on items on sale and their policy doesn’t state anything like that and got “has been that way as long as I’ve worked here”

Went to the car, called their hotline and confirmed that it would be eligible for a price beat and they had no idea where the operator had gotten that idea from.

Went back in store to her, told her about the phone conversation I’d just had, she then called her manager to confirm and her manager said that they do price beat on sale items. She tried her hardest to get out of it despite the manager giving the green light, “oh I’ve been told this”, “are you sure because I’ve been told…” etc for about 5 minutes.

Eventually succeeded in the price beat but hoping this doesn’t indicate a potential change in the future.

What annoyed me about it was the fact she would’ve done this to other customers and the lack of apology for her misunderstanding

I dunno why staff get so invested in trying to defend price lowering so hard.
A quick list of exceptions, if nothing wrong just do it. U cost the business more by arguing it.

      • Haha tell me about it, defending it like their paycheque depends on it!

Not even sure where she got the idea that they don’t price beat on sale items, their price beat policy is very clear cut

What should’ve been a 5 minute trip took 45 minutes.

My experience at most other stores such as Mitre10 have always been a breeze

  • I tried to do a price beat at Supercheap Auto.
Took forever to get to a live agent on their online chat. Sent thrm the details of the price beat. "No problem, we will email you a discount code to use". Took a few hours to recieve the discount code. Code didnt work. Waited for ages to speak to another Live agent. Turns out the code had been created for the Australian supercheap website. Waited for them to price beat again and make a code for the NZ website. Said the discount code would be emailed again. Didn't recieve the code until the next day, and it was the wrong amount of discount. In the end, I gave up and purchased the item from somewhere else.

  • With some of the stores deliberately avoiding stocking the same products as their competitors, I'd benefit from hearing people's strategies for what types and brands of products to try to get matched, and where.

e.g. I stumbled upon the realization at Mitre 10 recently that they had a much higher price than the Warehouse for some household batteries I wanted (and yet I was planning to drop in the warehouse afterwards). So that was an easy lookup on the app to get a successful price beat at the Mitre 10 checkout.

Sistema I guess is sold in many places so I'd expect it to always pay before buying them, to not visit the cheapest store but instead the competitor that will price beat with % discount.

    Any other general strategies?

    • I just hope that The Warehouse doesn't get rid of too many of the other brands (in an effort to replace em with their Market Kitchen products). Oak and Vanish for example are on their way out.

      • If that happens, it will die a slow painful death.

    • Nespresso machines. Some stores will stock almost identical machines with slightly different serial numbers.
One briscoes did that vs a jbhifi price beat, so went to another store that had exactly the same model (newer stock apparently)
The guy didnt want to beat by 10% so i pointed out the giant price promise 10% poster and he reluctantly did it 😀
