260

2degrees $55 PREPAY PLAN SIM, for a never seen low price just $8.97 at Noelleeming.

10GB carry over date in this plan, plus 7.5GB bonus when you port you number from another provider before 31/12/2022, need $19 or above plan to keep your bonus data, but some people changed to $10 plan and still has the bonus date in use, checked today.

2degrees supports eSIM for both prepay and monthly plans, just take the sim card to a store, tell them you want to switch to eSIM.
You can use a physical sim card and a eSIM at the same time (dual standby, single mobile data connection) on many iPhones and android phones.

  • Would I be able to use this if I'm already with 2degrees & coming off a "pay monthly" plan?

    • +1

These SIM's are aimed at new customers, you would have to transfer to another provider then transfer back on one of these SIM's to get this offer on your existing number afaik.

  • +2

Good price if you need larger amounts of data every few months on demand compared to paying $5 for 1.5GB Spark SIM's @ PBTech.

Also available via NL @ TheMarket with no purchase limit(not sure if they would honour that)
    https://themarket.com/nz/p/2degrees-55-monthly-prepay-plan-s…

Which means you could add the 10% off coupon and MarketClub Free Shipping on orders over $45 etc

Thanks, bought 4 and shipped today.

Travelling NZ in Dec, saved a few dozens thanks.

      • I guess you can covert it to eSim at airpot terminal?

  • +1

So do you get the $55 plan for $8? or do you get the sim for $8 and you still pay $55 per month?
    thanks

    • Good question! 8 NZD / month would be amazing though. And then also the question: how long would that be valid for?

    • +4

Yes you get the $55 plan for $8, but it’s only valid for a month.
If you don’t cancel it will auto renew at $55.

  • With high speed wireless being available basically everywhere and unlimited fibre connections backing them up, do people who live here really use a lot of mobile data these days?

I could see, maybe Spotify sucking up data for someone who regularly uses public transport, but I can't imagine many other scenarios that would have high data consumption away from a fixed wireless connection. EG you visit a customer and connect your laptop/phone to their guest WiFi, and it's not like you're going to watch a movie whilst shopping in a mall.

    • Just had a look at my plan, I get 1.25GB/m and I have 15.75GB of available rollover, which puts me around the SFA mark of usage.

Now that I'm regularly back in the office, streaming sports on the morning commute is a killer.
I had been looking at 2degrees over the last few weeks, mainly for their 1 hour free hour feature.
This probably seals the deal for me

    • My Waze uses quite a lot of data (Police, traffic jams, hazards etc) when I drive AKL-WEL to my rental property

      • How has google maps not canibalised that yet?

        • +1

Google maps doesn't allow users to report police, red light cameras, speed traps or hazards. I find Waze to be much much better than Google Maps even though Google owns Waze. It is a great addition to my Uniden R8 radar detector

        • Google owns Waze….

how long do you have to activate before it "expires"?

    • +1

Not sure for 2D but when Spark/Voda SIM's go on clearance I've had them work well after a year after purchase.

    • +1

Usually a year, then they reuse the number but my cars cellphone has been over a year now.

      • You have a dedicated cellphone for car?

        • +1

Yea,years ago when friends would use the car and forget thier phone i would just call the car, also track its location.
Now i just use it for hotspot with these sim deals, download dashcam footage and all those apps for deals so i dont have to have it on my personal phone.

I’m curious as to why would anyone go with this offer when Kogan Mobile provides best value (during the 50% periods). Kogan Mobile too like 2Degrees used Voda network.

    • How user friendly is Kogan? I’m looking at moving my son to this from Warehouse Mobile which isn’t very user friendly on prepay. You can’t automatically purchase a package each month so it’s a manual process, also sometimes when he calls or texts it comes up with his number but other times it comes up with the old warehouse sim phone number.

      • I haven’t had any issues, been a year already. I would recommend yearly recharge over monthly, works out 50% cheaper during deal. But check out @bigcheese comment below, none of those matter to me much but might matter to you.

    • It depends on what you want - value means different things to different people.
If it’s purely on price then yes Kogan wins with the 50% offers.
However, Kogan requires full payment up front for those deals, is not eSim compatible in NZ, doesn’t do rollover data and won’t receive premium txts (appt reminders etc)

      • Fair enough, thought it’s worth pointing out that there are competing high value options out there.

      • +1

Wont receive premium txt or cant reply to them?

        • Sorry - can't reply to them.

Kogan is really good for price, in fact I have both my kids on Kogan which works well for them.
My point above is more around choosing a provider that meets all your needs.

Some people use these packs just for Data and its nice to have a SIM lying around which you can activate for the following 30 days when you need it rather than paying a monthly fee and not needing it

    • yup if they're gonna switch sims every month with this deal, the kogan one still works out better with their $5 promo sim card coming with 15GB

      • Yes, Kogan great for Waitomo fuel and a dual sim burner phone. Still receive texts after expiry.

      • 2degrees is great for their daily free data hour. But yes you will be throttled after 40GB or something a month and I have hit that mark a few times already.

  • +2

Kogan beats all these offers. My partner and I got our sims with the plan for $180 for 1 year with 1.5 GB data per month and free standard calls to anyone in Nz and Au. I don't see any point in buying anything except them. Apparently, they use Vodafones' network. It's our second year with them and no issues at all. There's posts about it on Cheapies as well, just search.

  • Bought 5 of these to use in a tablet. Will throw away after 30 days

    • That's why it out of stock Both online & offline

  • How do we get the additional 7.5gb? We ported two numbers over last week using these sims
