  • I guess not alot of poeple going to cinemas since covid, cause most of the new movies are becoming available on Netflix, Prime and Disney, plus better internet connections, all this FIbre Max and Hyperfibres, cheaper to stream or download at home to watch.

    • disk is still better than lossy compressed audio!

      • Do you mean physical disks? If so, then DVD is Standard Def, while BlueRay is 'only' Full HD at best, and all for a price for one movie that is often multiples of what you would pay for a streaming subscription per month.

We sold off all our disks some time ago while we could still get something for them.

Each to his own, but disks aren't for us anymore :-)

        • You cannot compare a Bluray with 45Gb of data to a 4K streaming service that at its best will do 7GB p/h, if you have a decent full array LED / Oled and at least a 5.1 system you can see and hear the difference. Said that I bought physical media only 2 times this year.
PS. you can DL a 45Gb rip for "scientific" purposes… 💀

        • you want to lose picture and audio quality?
i actually started buying UHD-bluray disks this year!

but yes i do mean blu-ray and UHD blu-ray disks particularly.

          • @fsmith: Hello Disney here - I see you like to buy our UHD discs for better Audio and arguably better video since it's not compressed, but we're not going to give you Dolby Vision or Imax on your $30-$40 disc. We're going to save that for Disney+ subs….

What do you prefer - HDR10 + better audio or Dolby Vision and 26% more picture? Because that's the trade off the House of Mouse is making you choose these days.

            • @Vish: Hi Disney,

I'll keep my $30 for one movie which I might or might not have watched lots of times to justify the purchase to myself. I'd rather spend that $30 on a couple of months of subs, and watch loads of different things instead.

              Thanks :-)

              Saneal.

            • @Vish: haha. i can find them both combined! as in dolby vision and 26% more picture with lossless audio!

only downsize is the picture is compressed.

    • If you're implying they're offering this deal due to low patronage, disagree - they have offered it or similar many times in the past.

I do agree they probably have low patronage though. I'm usually quite a big cinema goer, especially blockbusters, and I hardly go these days. There's simply a dearth of decent movies coming out. In the early 2010s I was easily seeing 20+ movies a year. This year I've seen 3-4.

  • I'm a bit confused, how do I create a cinebuzz gift card account? It won't let me log in with my current cinebuzz. The join now button just takes me to create another cinebuzz.

    • Oh I got it, you have to add to cart, then create a new account.
