Two new features have been rolled out today. Users have always been able to add reminders to deals and subscribe to front page deals, but we've only just rolled out the equivalent for competitions.
Both features are available to logged-in users only. If you have not yet registered for an account, it's completely free - all you have to do is pick a username and password, or just log in from Google+ or Facebook.
Adding Reminders for Competitions
Users can now add reminders for competitions that have not yet closed. These can be reminders on the website itself, or you can populate a Google Calendar event or export an iCalendar event as a .ics file to import into your calendar application (Apple Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Yahoo! Calendar etc). Site reminders are displayed on the desktop site on the right hand side of the front page of the desktop site, and also on your daily newsletter if you are subscribed.
On the competition page, look for the 'Reminder' link below the competition description and click on it. From there, you can either set a site reminder (on the closing date or your own custom date), or automatically populate a Google calendar event, or export the iCalendar (.ics) file.
Competition Front Page Subcription
Competitions that are posted are featured on the competition front page when there are at least 2 votes. You can be notified of every competition that has been promoted to the front page. To do so, hover over 'My Account' on the top right corner, pick 'Subscription', then click on the 'events' tab. You can then subscribe to the front page competitions by checking the 'A competition reaches the front page' check box and saving.
If you have any questions or issues using these features, please drop a note here. Thanks!
Desktop notifications for deal/comp reminders have been rolled out this morning. Please see new wiki page for deal/comp reminders.
