Epic is a reading app for kids with over 40,000 titles and is used by many schools and parents. Our Neighbour showed it to me the other day while we were talking about Libby app for borrowing "read to me" digital books from our local library. I have had a play with the app and was quite impressed with the quality and selection of books.
The basic subscription is free, and gives you access to one book per day, but with the unlimited plan (USD9.99 per month/ 79.99 per year) you get unlimited access to the whole library. You can set up to four child profiles and the books are curated to their reading level. As a parent, you get access to a parent dashboard with insights into your child's reading journey.
Epic is also free for schools across the world, and from what I understand, is funded by individual subscriptions.
The above promo code gives you two months free premium when you sign up for a monthly subscription. Great to get your kids' summer reading sorted.
Here is the description from their website:
"Epic is the leading digital reading platform—built on a collection of 40,000+ popular, high-quality books from 250+ of the world’s best publishers—that safely fuels curiosity and reading confidence for kids 12 and under.
Inspiring the next generation to develop a love of reading and learning.
Epic was born out of a single question: How do we make books more accessible to kids? As parents, it always seemed strange to us that our kids could so easily play games and watch videos on their iPhones and iPads, but the same couldn’t be said for books. So, in 2013, we decided to build the first “epic” reading experience, designed just for kids. Today, Epic has grown into an award-winning subscription service, which gives millions of families and classrooms instant, unlimited access to thousands of books, videos, and quizzes from leading publishers to help kids everywhere read, learn, and grow."
