I reckon 7900xtx will still be around $2k NZD. I just picked up a 3080 12GB to replace my 1080. Got tired of waiting and watching prices, hoping for a sale. I'm only playing at 1440p, so should last me as long as the 1080 has.
Nice I'm still sitting on my 1080ti and pretty close to getting sick of watching prices too especially with the brutal 40 series pricing seriously making me question the viability of high end pc gaming these days. If we see some 7900xtx near the 1800$ mark I will be pretty happy as the 1080ti starting to show it's age struggling to hit 90fps at 1440p ultra wide in newer titles. Quietly optimistic :)
What u gon do with your 1080?
@F armer: Probably gift to a friend or family. Last time I sold a video card guy saw it working, brought it, took it home, killed it that same day, then got really really aggressive demanding a refund - not wanting to go through that again just not worth the lost sleep
Just go second hand on Trademe.
Seriously 40 series is so overpriced it's insane, that's why I don't see the prices changing too much. I hope for your sake the 7900xtx retails here for $1800, it would be amazing if that's the case. Even now I can barely find 6900xt/6800xt in stock for a good price. 6950xt's still all over $2k+
I think I'll stick to buying one gen behind what's current!
@kinetic9: With current pricing don't blame you, picked up my 1080ti new when the 20 series launched for really cheap, and it's probably been the best value tech purchase I made in the last 5 years.
Hopefully the last gen inflated 30 series prices get pressured down even further with the two new Radeon cards hitting the market, it could be an exciting time to be a buyer position in December or early 2023
I expect the 7900XTX will be popular, and we in NZ traditionally don't get much Radeon stock. The cheapest XTX model will probably be around NZ$2200+.
So the 3090Ti at $1700 is IMO an OK deal.
$1K USD is for reference cards, which NZ may or may not get. The AIB cards will likely be an additional $100-$200 USD. Sadly it seems the market has shifted to a static price to performance model - the new gen cards have higher performance, but you're paying a proportional increase in price.
I just got a custom built PC from Computer Lounge a couple of weeks ago and went with the 3080Ti as it seemed like the best value at the time but I'm tempted by this. Not for gaming but for work, as I'm on a project that requires some smoke sim in C4D and I could make use of the extra vram. Going to try real hard to not go for this and just stick to my plan to upgrade to a 4090 when prices drop a bit, even if it's in a year.
Just brought myself one that's a good deal 2nd hand 3090 are like 2k on trade me. Cheers cheapies will be a nice upgrade from the 3070.
thank you, so glad i checked this site :) got this, a very welcome upgrade from the ol gtx1080
7900XTX just around the corner (with 999$ USD rrp) Unless you urgently need a new card might be worth holding off for a few weeks
