  • Whatever you do, you're running out of time to do it. The end of November is fast approaching. Don't post, don't think, just buy! Isn't that the mantra for November?

  • +1

Unless I am missing something obvious, for what you are describing, you could buy something on TradeMe for $50 - $75 or so, and it would work fine.

I have sold loads of second hand PCs on TM in that price range, all running Win10 that would easily handle your requirements.

    • yes but i wanted to spend my gift cards as there is nothing i want to buy with them

      • I feel your pain in that respect :-(

Is it worth considering purchasing something more powerful for yourself (maybe in the $2,000 ish range for example), and flick off your current daily driver (without knowing what you are currently using of course)?

  • I've found prices for pc parts have been rising, especially for intel CPUs. Could be due to the exchange rate but I haven't kept up with that so not sure.

If it's not for anything intense, you might consider one of those off-lease elitedesk 800 and the like. That will certainly be the cheapest and a good value option. Anything you build new and modern will be close to $1000, off-lease will be around $400-$600.
Anything you build will be mini itx at the smallest, and that will come at a large premium so really you're looking at micro atx whereas a sff will fit in a lunchbox.

    • yes i would look at off-lease but i only want to spend my gift card money and most off-lease pc ive seen for not much more i could get a much better pc
