Good news for all any cheapies that have a current plan expiring in Jan who waited out the last deal.
    Will avoid losing a month…

    • +1

exactly my plan after starting my plan last Jan

  • Wonder if the text messages still come through if travelling internationally.

    • Yep they did for me when I was in the states.

    • +1

Yes it did on my kids phones when we went to Oz a couple of months back.
Need to ensure you have roaming turned on.

Note: Even if you can receive the text you won't be able to send them without the roaming pack add-on which is quite expensive.

    • +1

Currently at San Francisco airport and received text messages, was also able to send some back, and receiving subsequent responses. Not sure how that works…

    • +1

Recieved texts in the philippines, but not South Korea.

      • +1

In France now and just received a text from IRD

  • can we transfer our vodafone numbers to this?

    • +1

Yes - transferred my wife and mum with no issues

      • how long does it take to transfer?

        • Like an hour or so

          • @Vish: great thanks, this is my 1st time using the plan and i want to keep my exisitng number. Do i wait until the physicsl sim card arrive than i can activate the plan? I dont need to buy a started sim card pack. sorry for being a noob

            • @d8400: A sim normally comes with the vouchers, but in my experience they often get lost in the mail. I had to request a new sim like 3 times before it finally arrived and the others never turned up. If it's been awhile and you haven't got the sim yet, touch base with Kogan and get another sent out.

Once you have the new sim, go online to kogan mobile and follow the prompts to carry your number over. All you need is your sim number which is on your sim card. If your sim is old it might be faded and if you're like me and used a sim from 10 years ago you cut down to size to fit newer phones you'll need to call your carrier and ask for it. If you have an iPhone you can also get it from the settings though, or borrow someone's iphone and put your sim in and grab it.

Just make sure you don't take your old sim out of your phone during the transfer process as you'll get a text confirming you want to port the number and you'll need to confirm.

              • @Vish: hey man, thanks for your help, finally got it ported and working!!! love ya work!!!

                • @d8400: Awesome bro, enjoy the savings!

  • Interested to hear that roaming - or at least inbound works in Oz, the T & C exclude Oz for the roaming pack. Thought that was pretty weird for an Ozzy domiciled business.

Edit : Looks like that's since been updated to include Australia.

    • +1

I’ve used roaming in aus with the roaming pack. Had to manually change my connection settings for it to work but no issues

  • Thanks OP. Just ordered the small one. Great price.

  • What about the 5G? I'm planning to change my phone and I wonder how is their coverage. In the website shows a banner to see the map but I only see 4G in the map.

    • +2

https://www.vodafone.co.nz/network/coverage/ - scroll a bit further down and you'll be able to select "5G"

    • My iphone shows 5g connection in Auckland where it's available.

      • That map is broken / top is cropped off, the 5G coverage button is before the long bar on the right. The Vodafone linked above is exactly the same and works.

        • +1

Thanks! I knew they shared the same network but I was unsure if 5g would be different. I guess I will keep my number with them

  • +1

Damn bought one during black Friday and my existing plan expires Mar

    • I spoke to them over chat and they refunded the Black Friday voucher so I could repurchase this deal.

  • Thanks OP

  • Does Kogan offer esim? Couldn’t find any information on their site.

    • +2

      No.
It is with Kogan Australia, just not available in NZ.

    • That will be handy, esim for personal and SIM for work. Beats having to carry 2 phones?

  • Hi,

Anyone fancy a large code for $160? My plan expires end of Jan. But the code I bought black Friday expires end of Dec.

    • Would this also include the sim card and shipping? or is shipping extra?

      • Where are you based? If Auckland I may deliver to you. Otherwise you can buy a code and keep the card shipped by Kogan. And I will transfer you $5 and DM you the code.

    • I Would probably purchase for my mother :D [email protected] if needed cheers

      • Emailed thanks

    • +1

If you speak to them via chat they can refund you…

      • good to know. On kogan.co.nz or koganmobile.co.nz?

        • on koganmobile.

          • @fake: Not working for me. They refused to refund for the code.

            • @hhan7: bummer, I spoke to someone over chat early early on.

They couldn't process the refund over chat but had me forward the voucher email back to their support email address to process the refund from there.

              • @fake: and you finally already got the refund approved?

  • Does the remain data stacks for next month if not used?

    • +1

      No.
You get the monthly allocation of data only. It's use it or lose it with no rollover.

      • Still cheap as.
Way cheaper than actually my plan with another company of 28$ per 4 gb

        • Yeah only $10/month
for that amount you only get 1.25G with others

  • 80 plan is great for IOT

  • Thanks, Better than using $4 for 500MB warehouse mobile pre-paid plan.

    • +2

WM is changing up their prices with something called worry-free data. Not sure what that means as they don't advertises prepay data anymore, but all prepay rates are doubled.

  • hmm wonder if they will have the extra large plan later..

    • That plan hasn't existed in NZ for over two years so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting.

      • The plan might be gone, but they do a bonus data deal which is equivalent. Last time was 11 months ago, so if you hold on maybe you'll see something after Christmas.

  • Would anyone have an unused Kogan sim card they'd sell?

    • I've got some. Free to take if you want.

      • Thanks. I'll PM you.

    • The plan comes with a free sim so not sure why you would need another one.

They also sell a $5 starter pack which comes with 30 days of plan and a sim.

      • It's a timing thing. With the holidays I might not receive the sim until mid Jan.

    • How long does the number porting take ?
Just conscious of doing it 2 days before new year

  • Why does the network name say OneNZ on a newly activated phone but on a older phone say KoganMobile. Both at the same time and same location. OneNZ is the new name for Vodafone NZ but surly it should say Kogan.

    • It doesn't matter. I think you can change what it displays under APN's in your settings.

  • Did anyone have issues paying with Zip? I select Zip on the checkout page, then "Continue to Zip", and it just redirects me back to the Kogan homepage. I've logged a ticket with them, but have tried different devices, accepting the free SIM or not… nothing seems to work.

    • +1

I tried paying on Kogan with ZIP before and had the same experience. I'm not sure their ZIP payment actually works with NZ's ZIP, only the Aussie version I assume. Poor web design to let that be on there for NZ customers.

  • Reminder that this offer expires at midnight tonight for those considering buying the voucher.

  • Does anyone have any unused vouchers I can buy, large would be great

    • The vouchers on this deal are only valid for another week so you might be out of luck.
They did do a Waitangi Day deal last year so possibly something then if you can wait?

      • Oh yeah I missed my chance I hope so I'm a student so it would be great $30 dollars a month on 2 degrees only gives you 3gb lol and calling isn't even unlimited, what a joke how much we get ripped off for data compared to australia.

        • PM'd you.

  • anyone selling a small?

  • I've got a unused $165 large plan that I bought in 29/12 if anyone is interested?

      • Need to be be a Cheapie for more than a year to post classifieds.

        • Good point. Didn't even know that.

          • @Wakrak: Oops, didn't even know there was a classified section. New account, just created to post here so didn't know.

            • @capisce: All good. Hopefully you find a buyer in time.
