No coupon needed to get the $593 price but shipping is still additional unless you can pickup for free in Auckland.
Extra - $12.60 for me in Christchurch or $5.95 to Auckland.
Can use MIGHTYHELLO to get another $10 off.

    • Nice! Going to update the coupon in the post, thanks

    • they have a 14-day trial of Primate for a new account

  • Wonder how this compares to the Roborock S6 Pure which often goes on sale for $558.99 at PB Tech.

    update:

The difference between the two is here — in the ability of the robots to mop. The S5 Max has a much larger water tank, 180 ml on the S6 Pure vs 290 ml on the S5 Max. That means more water can be pushed out of the robot to better clean up dirt that may be dried on the surface.

The water tank is also part of the S5 Max, rather than an added element, although robot vacuums need to have the cloth attachment snapped into place before they can mop.

The larger water tank can also be controlled through the Roborock app — something that the S6 Pure doesn't allow. There are four settings in the S5 Max side of the app, which let you shift between no water and heavy water use.

    • So no difference in Vacuum part between the 2?

      • As far as I can tell, no. I only looked at one or two sites though.

  • I purchased Roborock s5 max from toby deals in Jan 2020 and its been solid at what it can do. Daily it’s scheduled to clean downstairs area. It can now support multi storey maps and the navigation is pretty good with no go zones and boundaries. Got it for $560 back then.

  • I have an S5. 3.5 years and counting, I've replaced parts inside occasionally (easy to do), and my goodness it's a hard worker. Highly recommend.

What annoys me is the official Roborock app doesn't support our model, so have to use Xiaomi.

I don't even use the app on a phone (there's an app for this tough), I just set and forget in the web browser interface. I flashed R2D2 voice pack onto it too.

      • Interesting! I can totally see me bricking the bot tho.

  • Good to use on carpet? My house is mostly carpet and no hardwood or lino/vinyl/laminate at all.

Was looking at the S7 VMax Ultra but if this is good at vacuuming medium pile carpet then i'll go with this

    • We too have carpet and it does a decent job. Suction is powerful enough for daily use. I have to manually vacuum areas it can’t reach and once in a while go over with dyson big ball to get a through clean.

  • Fyi, after looking at some reviews (which overall rate this vac pretty highly, at least in it's vacuum function), the mopping on this thing isn't really mopping, and apparently it does a fairly average job.

Apparently it has a wet cloth it wipes along the floor, and that's the extent of the mop.

    • Pretty much. I have the S6. Drags a wet cloth around. Good if you spill something and want it cleaned up quick, but not good for a decent mopping of the floor. I have a steam mop for that.

      • What steam mop do you have, out of interest?
We had a kogan one for a while, until it konked out. Found it a pain in the bum to run around with the cord carefully enough not to leave water marks on the wood floor (which we probably shouldn't have been using a steam mop on anyway, to be fair).

I have a Bissell PowerFresh Deluxe Steam Mop. Got it for $149 from JB Hi-Fi. It was the floor model.

  • How well does this vacuum hard floors? Currently using neato d3 and very happy, but mopping would be handy
