Valve Steam Deck (64GB) $834.99 + Shipping ($29.44 DPEX, $40.40 DHL) @ Expansys (+ Possible Pricematch at Mighty Ape)

140

Regular price of this is a crazy WTF NZD1199.00 or USD745 which is almost double what it costs in the US (includes tax).

I was able to do a pricematch at Mighty Ape.
https://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/valve-steam-deck-64gb/36…

Just try to get them to price match Expansys who's selling it for $834.9, or Parallel Imported who's selling it for $969.00

For me they matched the former, so I got the 64GB Deck for NZD 895.00 (USD556) but factor in the SSD and the MicroSD I bought for NZD120 total (NZD 1015 for those counting), that's still less than the 512GB Deck in US prices (630 vs 649). Plus you get local warranty which you won't get with importing from the US.

Good luck!

Edit: forgot to mention that the SD box was sealed, and the order came with a free Samsung 45w wall charger + USB C to USB C cable

I would have caution ordering from Expansys.
I tried to order 2 of these from them in early December.
They were listed as in stock and dispatched within a few days.
The stock levels varied wildly after ordering. I sent many emails asking for updates and the status of the order and they were all unanswered. I also posted on their forums where there were many other threads complaining about no contact. Their trustpilot has numerous complaints of the same nature as well.
Eventually I got fed up of the no contact and asked for a refund or else I would charge back which was actioned relatively fast.
Your mileage might vary, but please heed my warning before trying to do business with this company.

They do have an actual store in Auckland which might be a better bet. Like any Parallel import store, warranty issues can be challenging.

I was referring to Expansys, which is marked as cheaper, but is a drop shipping company with no physical store.

My experience with them is marginal at best; mainly with lack of communication, and dragging the chain on warranty issues.
I would avoid in the future YMMV

    • Agree, I had a terrible experience with Expansys recently - after ordering I had no responses for almost a month, until finally threatening a chargeback they dispatched pretty much straight away. pretty sus imo

Great deal! How long do Mighty Ape usually take to get back to you re price matching?

the next day pretty much, looks like they aren't selling well given they're way overpriced on their store

I'm surprised mighty ape price matched - i'd go that way. But for the record -

I purchased one from Expansys a couple weeks back, arrived about a week later (incl flooding delays)
Steam deck was sealed in its protective case. Charger had a US travel adapter with it in the box. Everything works perfectly. Vampire Survivors on it is a blast.

It was much cheaper than alternatives when i got mine (though it is going up in price, i got mine for ~790nzd). Research suggested they ship quickly to aus/nz. I'm happy to take a risk with the warranty.

However, it is coming from Hong Kong and Expansys has a mixed reputation. So buyer beware. For me it was worth the gamble.

  • Which SSD did you get?

Got the generic 256GB 2230 nvme and 512GB Samsung Evo Plus both from PB

      • Just ordered the 512gb Samsung Evo from PB Tech. $89.99. Great deal.

  • Ordered a 2230 1tb ssd to upgrade my steamdeck from expansys and arrived in 1 week from hong kong. Pretty quick and great price. Def a legit store.

Same. Mine is already out for delivery!

    • Same here, ordered mine too.
(FYI, for people who aren't urgently looking to buy this one now, there is a second gen steamdeck coming up near the end of this year.)

  • $10 increase in price.
