  • Damn I got a Phillips one from pb tech as I wanted google assistant and cast on it. The things is a pain not playing audio when I turn it on or takes forever to turn itself on. Wish I'd waited for this one as it looks like a much better soundbar for not much more money.

  • can you add a sub?

I could be wrong, but when I google this and found it on the JBL NZ site, it had a Q&A. Someone asked the same question and this was the official response:

"Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, it is not possible to add a sub woofer to the JBL Bar 5.0 Multibeam. Should you wish to receive further support, you may contact the Harman Customer Support team by telephone, email or chat in order to receive direct assistance. Please see https://uk.harmanaudio.com/support-contact.html#ns for further details. Thank you."

    • Don’t think you can add a sub. I bought this one during the Xmas sale for about $370 from Noel leeming. This is the lowest price I’ve seen.

  • Do you guys who have it like it? Thinking to get it for my lg c2 but not sure it's worth the money.

This is quite a price though. Was eyeing it up on jb for a while and that was $385!

I tried a number of sound bars in Noel leeming Westgate in my price range (between $99 and $600) and my preferred options are JBL Bar 5.0 and Sonos Ray white. Although I prefer the Sonos design, I do feel that you get more value with the JBL Bar 5.0 considering it has Dolby Atmos (virtual) and is way cheaper than Sonos Ray. After own it for 2 months and mostly used for gaming, I’m pretty happy with it. The only regret is that I should have waited till this new low price :p

    • Make sure your soundbar supports DD+ aka Enhanced AC3 or even the barebone AC3 for streaming services compatibility.

Lot of soundbars at this price point only support PCM which is a stereo format.

$140 shipping to Auckland is a pity. Good deal if you can click /collect from a nearby store.

    • What an insane shipping price.

      • Buy two and the second one is only $10

I was gonna buy one until I saw the $139 Shipping 💀 That's insane for just a soundbar!

    • You can click and collect at zero cost.

For those facing the ridiculous $140 delivery fee, maybe try price matching vs NL or JB. I had some luck with NL!

  • NL pricematched Smith City.

    • Lucky, NL refused me saying different model numbers then Smith City raised price so couldnt try again.

  • That didn't last long, price at $478 now.

    • glad I bit the bullet then!

  • Does anyone need a JBL sound bar ?
    I have one, message me
