  • Good deal, parents wanted a new tv remote this will be a better solution.

  • Ordered thanks OP, was waiting for a good price/time.

  • I have a slow android TV (TCL). Would this be better than inbuilt android Smart TV in terms of speed and stuff?

      Infinitely

    • More than infinitely

  • This is an amazing bit of kit for 69, u paid 109 back In The day and this is a bargain for all the apps and features.

  • I'm actually curious about Google TV 4k (I exclusively have Android devices atm), i've got a Samsung Neo QLED TV 2022 model as well (4k, up to 144hz refresh rate).

I've read mixed feedback, some say the Samsung native apps in-fact stream content better in terms of picture quality & sound in comparison to either of these devices, so the general consensus seems to be this is better for older TV's? Also I don't find the lag to be offensively bad on the new Samsung TV vs the old ones. Would love some feedback from y'all as i've almost pulled the trigger on purchasing this like 5-6 times already xD

An external streaming stick/box gives more flexibility and convenience. There's a lot of added value once you've opened up the world with VPNs and apps unavailable with LG, Samsung and Panasonic ecosystems.

      • Thanks for sharing your thoughts Peter, any suggestions for apps? I'm sure I had a few in mind when I had originally thought of purchasing one but tbh I only use Plex and don't use any of the streaming services.

  • Good price.

  • Got one from Amazon Australia few months ago for a 6 years old Samsung TV.

Native Apps on Samsung TV works much better than Chromecast Google TV.

Sometime it lags and video loads, native Samsung app never had this issue.

Now a days not using much as native Apps are on par or better.

The Google interface is definitely better than Samsung.

    • It is definitely a bit underpowered - even the UI is a bit sluggish, but, it is still a great device

  • Would you be better off with the Fire Stick 4k? https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/p/amazon-fire-tv-stick-4k-max/… which is $55?

Some yarns about this on Geekzone

    • I can confirm the auto frame matching feature doesn’t work on Netflix or Disney plus. So my fire tv sits there unused

  • Can confirm that noel leeming just price matched it instore @ Wairau.
JBHIFI said they wouldn't match it as the market isn't a physical store.

    • Tried the online chat. Said its a parallel import so they won't be able to price match :(

      • well, what can i say for good old chatting to a person in-store…showed them on the phone, matched straight away. they were a bit dubious initially as the market is part of them, but then they said sure they will match it…i guess luck of the draw who you chat to :)

        • Must be! I've been told multiple times online that they don't match TheMarket as they are part of the same group

  • Which one do you guys prefer Xiaomi mi box 4k or this?

    • Have been using Xiaomi Mi Box's since they were first announced, the 4K will be the last one I use. I've had no end of problem with it crashing, failing to recognise it's remote, randomly logging out, video stuttering (particularly on Hulu which wasn't an issue with earlier models) and just generally being frustrating.

Have replaced our 4K with a Chromecast 4K and will be replacing it's older brother with another G4K when it arrives. Great bit if kit.

      • quite interesting. I have been using 4k mi box for about an year now without any kinds of trouble. So I questioned if I needed to replace working well device with others.
        Thanks.

  • 4 in stock.

Got one in my warehouse cart

        • Are you hoping for $5 off $50 at The Warehouse?

          • @Peter Wyngarde: Maybe… 😂

          • @Peter Wyngarde: Actually I was thinking about just ordering it today but it's now out of stock. Still showing in my cart so I guess I'll wait and see if it comes back in stock, and stays in my cart when it does.
