    waiting for 50% off!

    • Do you usually know when they have the 50% off pricings? Seems to be at random times

    • +1

If you can wait then that is definitely the better deal.
This time last year they did a BOGOF, so effectively 50% off so not sure if they will do it again for a few more months now they are offering this deal.
After the offer last year the next time they did a 50% off was not until August (I think)

      • August would be mint. That's when my partner's plan runs out.

      • Was anyone else able to just renew their BOGOF from last year

  • +2

I'll transfer to Warehouse mobile and wait for 50%off

  • Had just ordered the $5 sim with the free first month but not activated yet. Any ideas of this stacks with that, or should I just get this and activate this first?

    • +3

      No they don’t stack.
You will lose any unused credit if you do.
I would activate the $5 sim for the first month and purchase the 365 day pack before the 5th April.
Then use the voucher code once your $5 plan has been used as it has until the 31st May to activate.

      • are you sure?
        the $5 voucher states

This voucher is valid for new and existing customers. If you are a new Kogan Mobile customer, you will need a SIM card before you redeem your voucher.

If you are already a Kogan Mobile customer, simply recharge by clicking on the button above. You will not need a new SIM Card.

        • Yes as long as they have a Kogan Sim.
I read the ‘haven’t activated’ part of the comment but missed the ‘just ordered’.
You will need to have a Sim first but I would hope expect it would arrive prior to the 5th April when this deal expires.
Definitely don’t buy until your sim arrives.

          • @bigcheese: Activation expires on the 31/05/2023 A

            • @pdevonporf: Yep - I mentioned that earlier
You have until the 31st May to activate but you need to purchase the voucher by the 5th April under this deal.

  • Wonder if the 30% off is the new 50% off?

    • +5

I think it's better to ignore the % off and focus on what the price is you're paying.
They may well go back to the 50% off deals but if they increase the prices on the plans first then 50% off may well equate to the same price as 30% off now.
A number of other prepay providers have increased or notified of an upcoming increase in their prices recently (Warehouse Mobile, 2Degrees for example) so I would not be surprised if Kogan increased their prices too.

      Just something to think about.

      • I agree with bigcheese.

One interesting observation though is that prices are decreasing across the ditch. Koganmobile have increased their large aus large package to 300GB and their medium to 200gb. Their last sale which was about week ago had buy one get one free with these increased data packages

I hope we don't get shafted with more 30% sales

    • This same time last year it was a 50% off sale so it might be

  • Does Kogan do Esim?

    • Not in NZ (only in Oz at this stage).

      • dam :(

  • Just as an FYI
If you have an iPhone you might have some issues getting your iMessages to work on Kogan.

    • My kids have had Kogan for a few years and never had any problems with iMessages.
I have seen people say this before but it’s usually just a setting change required on the device.

Is it still a problem for you now?

      • It took a couple of weeks for Kogan to fix the iMessage issue on my phone and my wife's phone but it's working fine now.
I read online that sometimes it takes Kogan 2 or 3 weeks to port numbers properly and that's why iMessage didn't work for us.

        • Im using kogan for about 2 years always avoiding sending sms at all costs, when I send one msg it sends 7

          • @deadfish: Haven't got that issue. Using it since few months.

        • Never had issues with iMessage. Both myself & wife using kogan.

    • how long ago was that? just to add a recent experience, i ported my number over last night, completed this morning. imessages worked right away on my iphone 8

      • My situation was the same as yours and worked straight away.
Doesn’t seem to be any pattern to it.

  • Some old mate on Geekzone is having trouble activating his/her sim card. Has anyone come across this issue before?
    https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=42&topicid=304…

I'm trying to activate a new Kogan SIM and my NZ cards( Yes multiple) gets declined despite having sufficient funds.

The API seems to be returning a HTTP 503 response.

Kogan care doesn't seem to be able to figure it out.

Wondering if anyone else has had similar issues in the last few days

    • Might be a silly question but I presume it is a Kogan NZ Sim they bought and not Kogan AU?

My only other suggestion would be to check with their bank in case they are flagging it as a suspicious transaction by mistake.
Looks like they have already tried other cards.

Last day today to buy the 30% off plan

  • Now 25% off

    • They are getting more stingy with the discounts all the time now.
      I thought 30% was miserable!
