Link? So can you link them to play surround sound?

    • By my own research, nah

      • Thanks thought it was too good to be true haha

  • I got a JBL portable and find it great, but it's biggest selling point is it's battery and dock that means I can just grab it to take outside and continue listening over the wifi.

These are basically Google home speakers make by JBL. So they will do multi room audio but not sure about them making a stereo pairing. We use ours to listen to music about the house on days when we are doing things like cleaning and going from room to room.

    • I have one of the portable ones too, and it's great, but the issue I have found is on the dock it sometimes makes a bad connection and fails to charge, so when I go to use it the battery is dead. Have you encountered this per chance?

      • I haven't but generally speaking mine lives on the dock other than when we are out in the garden, it's a second device in the bedroom so if it's not working it's fine we have a soundbar that does the job for us instead.

My bigger issue is my old JBL playlist that the multi room and YouTube music is just doesn't work reliably. I think it's down to being old and the lawsuit between Google and Sonos forcing a change in protocol that it didn't get updated to use.

  • I've got two of these a while back, and paired both units to my phone. Sound plays on both when streaming audio/video and only the one when using Google Assistant/Home. Great sounding speakers, robust and very well built.

    • In the Google home app set up a speaker group and select that as your cast device instead of one of the speakers. If you use the assistant to start your music you have to say play xyz on the speaker group and it should do it.

  • Aha, thanks for that!
