Qantas ANZ card ends in New Zealand

I have received the letter advise that Qantas ANZ card will be switching to Cash back card from 01 July 2023, I have contacted ANZ as I really like collecting Qantas point, and ANZ is the only card can collect Qantas points in New Zealand…but ANZ advised that it's Qantas decision to end…. so sad….. I am wondering what happened and if any one has been collecting Qantas Points in New Zealand… what are the alternative options (other than American Express rewards)….. thank you for sharing your thoughts…

That's annoying - I have had an ANZ Qantas VISA for years, and although I haven't been redeeming my Qantas stockpile of points, the credit-card ongoing top-ups have meant that my existing points don't expire.

I'll have to look into another simple top-up mechanism I suppose. The prepaid Qantas currency travel cards did the same thing, but they discontinued those a couple of years ago.

The issue I have with the Qantas points is that although I was saving up to have enough for two first-class European return trips with their classic rewards, they don't actually have any of those available over the next year from New Zealand unless you grab it the hour it is allocated (12 months in advance?) and never have two available.

Fine for economy flights, but not much availability for anything better.

The most simple top up mechanism is converting aa smartfuel rewards into qantas points. I do this occasionally to keep my qantas points balance from expiring.
