1 Year Accor Plus Explorer Membership $199 (Usually $399) @ Accor NZ

150

Saw a similar post over on OzBargain and found the relevant NZ link online.

Thought this was good value as the membership basically pays for itself if you were going to stay one night anyway at any of their 43 properties in NZ or approx 1000 worldwide. Properties include Novotel, Mercure, IBIS, Pullman, Sofitel, The Sebel etc.

Deal includes

  • 1 "Stay Plus" complimentary night per year (where available)
  • Up to 50% off Food Bill (50% off for 2 people, less for more)
  • Up to 50% off Red Hot Room Deals (some great deals overseas, not so much in NZ)

Obviously some fine print to go with that so please do your own research. Many more benefits detailed here…

and some answers here

To check which properties in NZ are "Stay Plus" click here

7% cashback here too (may not work but always an option to try)

I believe if you have American Express Platinum you have this membership already, so if you were thinking about signing up to that then this deal wont be for you.

  • Do you know how the complimentary night works? Is it any room at a stay plus hotel? And can they be used overseas?

    • Should have read the FAQs first..

      • I read the FAQ and I still don't understand, is it just a free night per booking? And I can use it unlimited times per year? Or once a year?

        • +2

You get one free night per membership year, it can be extremely difficult to use at a place you would actually want to stay at and you are often still charged a surcharge on top.

  • I read online and lots of people complaining about the membership, free nights had limited availability, a lot of restaurants don't let you have 50% off, etc.
It's on one of the share points hack website I forgot what it is called.

I always use their 50% food discount and have never got any issues. It cannot be more than 2 person for 50% abd dies not apply on room dining.
We generally would order at the restaurant and once it ready, get it to the room. This way we still get 50%

    • I've had my membership for about 3 years or so now and haven't had an issues with the 50% restaurant discount or booking for the free night. I've also renewed it last month and booked for the free night at Novotel in Rotorua later this month as well no problems.

  • I unfortunately have accor plus and it pretty much is a waste of time/money unless you book way in advance and travel in the off season. Even though stay plus is advertised as a free night, it barely ever is unless you stay at a budget hotel.

  • I have been using this for last 7 years and can definitely say its the cheapest i have seen.
In regards to room booking, it quite easy and i you plan ahead then definitely can get 1 night free. I have used this with pullman rotorua, sofitel queenstown and even overseas(best was in Maldives where i got 1 night foc)

    • can you have a looksie for me for fiji

      29 Aug - 04 Sept - 2 adult + 2 chidlren (1yr+4yr)

      eg. https://all.accor.com/ssr/app/accor/rates/5706/index.en.shtm…

Family room. $5703 NZD using basic membership. Just wondering if I should join. It looks like this hotel works for "stay plus" promo, but don't know about the dates.

      • +1

        $4711

        • thanks … is $4711 using the 1x free night promo?

            • @nevergofullretail: Thanks, I guess if we stay at sofitel then it is worth joining up then.

              • @kiwijunglist: it looks like the membership will save you $1000 less the joining fee, so i think its worth it even without the free night perk!

                • @nevergofullretail: I have to double check the fiji airways cost as well. It might be cheaper if i book the flights and hotel through fiji airlines website (i forgot the price i got quoted for that and the website is currently down).

          • +1

@kiwijunglist: Nah, he was looking at the superior room, its 5403 for the family and one can't see the free night stuff after you've used it. Assuming you could use it there (which I am pretty sure you can since its not in the exclusions list) it would be around 5000 total at best and maybe 5200 at worst

      • 4323 for the basic room n you wont be able to book free night on this ( not sure why).

Worth trying luxury escape they always better inclusions.

        • ahh thanks guys. I think I'm just gonna go with the intercontinental.

I've been looking at a 1-2 week getaway around July to mid Sept ish (2 adults + 1yr old infant + 4 yr old)

          Wellington to Fiji
          29 Aug - 04 Sept (6 nights)
          Flights $1850 (direct flights Wgtn-Fiji 3.5 hrs)
          Intercontinental Fiji hotel $ 2800 w. bfast
          Total = $4650

Fiji is quite expensive for accomodation, but it seems really easy to fly to.
Didn't see anything good on the luxury escapes website.

          • @kiwijunglist: There is a red hot room deal for fiji at Novotel Suva Lami Bay from $154.50 Fiji per night. But only for for 2 people, and stays up to may 31. Leave the kids behind?!

            • @nevergofullretail: Ha ha yes the kids are a problem but they are too young to fend for themselves.

              • @kiwijunglist: If you can enjoy the kids stay and eat free type deals as much as possible whilst they are still considered children. Families stop existing after 12 years of age apparently so those deals
                don’t last forever.

  • just joined and booked my free night at Novotel Auckland Airport no issues.

  • You wont get an upgraded room ( eg family room etc). Free nught is for the basic room.

    • correct, basic room, some hotels will charge extra (pay the difference) if you want upgrade, or if they are fancy hotels they may charge extra

      • Same goes for the children, i have got 2 yr old, if i mention that on the booking they always charges more for the same room. However if you tell the hotel later that we ate coming with children, they do the arrangements for no extra cost (cot, extra bedding etc?

        • it probably depends on the hotel policy, many allow kids under a certain age to stay and even eat for free. I believe Novotel allowed kids under 16 for free in the same room.

      • Having a fleet of old and new facilities, then charging extra at some because they are fancy is understandable but also kinda poor form and inconsistent, when people have paid to join the membership programme.

  • is the 50% off dining deal for 2 people on the whole bill, or on food only? Thanks

    • just food i believe

    • Food, 33% of 3 people and 25% of 4 people

    • 50% off the dining bill if it's you and someone else going with you. If there's 3 people, then it's 33% off, 4, it's 24% of the total bill.

  • Thanks for this - where can I find a list of overseas properties where I can stay a night free? particularly in Europe.

  • There is no way to know if a booking will be free until you join the menbership?

  • +2

Thanks for posting. Joined this morning, going on our honeymoon and hubby wanted sofitel if possible, as much as he would have loved a suite we are just not set up to drop that much $s but he gets his hotel of choice with a superior room for three nights for $718.20 (plus $199 membership) with the stay plus included in that, booking roughly 6 weeks out. Would have been $1084.90. I'll take a $167.70 saving and a happy hubby anyday plus it might come in handy again in the next 12 months. Here's hoping it works restaurant wise as well.

  • Can I use this free night for overseas accommodation please and if so, how easy to book a free night?

  • +1

I'd get on this deal quick. The online chat agent told me: This is the common offer for the staff however due to the technical glitch it is available on the website our team is working on it and it will be removed soon

  • Op can check room rates for Sofitel Beverly Hills, La for dates from 20/07 till 28/07 for 2 adult, so can do some comparison as Kayak has it at $3,897, thanks.

  • Can anyone check if Peppers Lake Tekapo 2 BEDROOM MOUNTAIN VIEW SUITE is available as a complimentary room from 21st - 22nd Sept? thanks

  • Thank I just bought this

  • Seems pretty good value. Best use of my free night was a nice place in Singapore. Got off a flight early and was tired, contacted the hotel and they even let us switch to another room and check in at 5am in the morning all because of being a member.

  • You are officially my favourite person right now. Father was kicking up a stink to my mum about not being allowed to renew. They did not get much use of the card with covid and had to renew to not lose his free nights. When does this offer expire as I can't seem to renew his card which expires in two weeks but have got mine.

    • im not sure sorry when it expires, i just found it online.
NiggleJ said the chat agent mentioned they are removing it soon because its a "glitch"

  • It looks like the price has gone up to $319?

    • +1

Yes, the Accor Plus Explorer has gone up now to $319 now beacuse I just bought it last Thursday for $199. This was the one with the free stay as well.
