Getting a Better Deal from Telcos

Anyone been successful getting a better deal from Spark or any other provider?
They recently increased the price by $3 so that is some leverage i hope to use as well as them hanging up on me mid call.
Trying to get some pointers on next best steps
(NO i cant move to Kogan yet as i need to pay out the phone which i might do in the next few months)

  • No particular advice, but do consider the whole picture in terms of the potential cost of paying out the phone now and getting a better deal early.

    • Would include paying a bit of interest on the credit card which is why I need to wait around 3 months to be most cost effective.

  • if you are on the fixed term contract, then Spark increasing their prices would void your contract and you could be free to leave as a consequence? I know recently vodafone increased their broadband rate on people with 1 year contract, and they incorrectly not telling people that they are "free to go" because of the price change by them.

    • They ditched fixed terms for the actual plan.
There is a phone on re-payment but i plan to pay it out.

  • Last time I spoke to Spark about looking at a better deal/I was going to switch out to another provider (4 seperate mobile services), the agent said there was nothing they could offer me and offered to submit disconnection orders for all my mobiles..

    • Basically got stonewalled by their overseas call center.
Going to try the "cancellation line" and ask questions about cancelling service and paying out my device hopefully might prompt something

      • Cancelation team are the only ones with any potential to offer a retention deal.. Even then the fact your in Contract/owing I doubt they will do anything. Best case could try that they can keep the monthly payment the same as last month
