Getting 20 cards from Countdown is probably the most annoying part.
Reminds me of the Trolley Dash promo 5 years ago where we cracked the code to infinite fuel vouchers lol
Manager behind the checkout seemed to think that this method using just 1 card (4 small purchases one after the other) wouldnt work.
But maybe he was just trying to avoid people taking advantage.
Here we go. Not sure if this was the final nail but the timing and the workaround was shared on reddit too
Our rewards partnership with AA Smartfuel is coming to an end
Countdown has been an AA Smartfuel partner since 2016. In that time, Countdown and AA Smartfuel have provided Kiwi customers, like you, with millions of discounts and rewards, and we’re proud of our work together.
Today, together with AA Smartfuel, we wanted to let you know that our rewards partnership will come to an end in early 2024.
What this means for you
Right now, you don’t need to do anything. Until early 2024, our partnership with AA Smartfuel continues, and you can collect points or cents per litre discounts, and redeem rewards as normal.
We’re also committed to making sure customers will be able to redeem every reward they have earned when the partnership ends.
Something new is coming..
While nothing’s changing right now, Countdown has plans to launch a new loyalty programme for our Onecard members, with more personalised value and experiences.
We’ll be in touch to share more about our new programme in the coming months, so watch this space. In the meantime, keep using your Onecard as you normally would.
If you have any questions about this change, you can find out more in our Onecard FAQs.
Ngā mihi nui,
Mark Wolfenden
Director of Loyalty
Isn't it better to earn Onecard points? Not sure exactly how many Onecards you can link to your CD account (I've got three). 1000 points per card. You get $15 voucher for two cards. 20 Onecards generate $150 voucher. That beats the $120 saving from AA?
that seems a lot of work! i think i'll just stick to stealing a license plate and driving off without paying /joking!
