Why not just spend the same amount and get lifetime instead….
    https://www.ivacy.com/lifetime-vpn/

There are often lifetime deals for this VPN provider on Stacksocial or other websites. I bought my lifetime one for like $50 NZD a few years back. They're OK.

    • Lifetime offer for five years?

I guess it means that taking out life insurance makes the deal really good though!

      • -3

Not sure if trolling or just dumb comment?

You pay $60 USD (equivalent to $100 NZD) and you'll get to use their VPN for life. It's a one time payment, not a subscription.

Up to you if you want to pay $100 and use their VPN as a subscription service for 5 years, or pay the same amount and get to keep your VPN account for life.

I've purchased the lifetime account for $50 NZD back in 2016 and my account is still showing as lifetime member to this day.

        • Neither, but look closer, it might come to you :-)

@Alan6984: Yeah, pretty sure you have no idea what the term "lifetime" means. If you know what it means, then it doesn't mean 5 years. Check with Ivacy.

And I presume you were referring to this:
            https://imgur.com/a/HZqxChL

If you actually bothered doing research, or looked closer (ironic), you'll find this under the Terms:
"Subscription is for lifetime. Customers must [email protected] 5 years of service to renew their subscription free of charge"

And if you bothered reading my previous comment, I mentioned Stacksocial. So it's still cheaper to buy it from there than to spend $100. Not to mention you get like $15 off on your first signup with Stacksocial.
            https://stacksocial.com/sales/ivacy-vpn-5-year-plan

It's your choice if you want to buy it or not, I don't care. I got my lifetime account with them and still going strong for 8+ years.

People these days don't bother checking to see if a deal is actually a deal anymore. Quality of the deals these days are poor.

            • @NovaAlpha: Took you long enough :-)

              • -1

@Alan6984: So let me get this straight. You think that the lifetime account is only valid for 5 years, but ironically didn't read the fine prints as you would have realized that it's actually lifetime as long as you contact their support - which renders your point completely useless. So what is your point here? Or are you just trying hard to be dumb and prove that I'm right since the beginning?

                • -1

@NovaAlpha: It was just humourous for them to advertise a 'lifetime' account for five years :-)

                  • -1

@Alan6984: It IS a lifetime account, you didn't read the fine prints. The 5 year "issue" isn't an issue.

                    • @NovaAlpha: I'm sure you are as right as usual and they will be around for 'a lifetime' or maybe even another five years ;-)

                      • -1

@Alan6984: Then why bother even having this conversation?

Not to mention the lifetime deal on Stacksocial is cheaper than the 5 year deal posted on Cheapies. It's $50 NZD, half the price of what this 5 year deal is about. If you want to buy this, just spend $50 on Stacksocial and worse case scenario you only get to use it for 5 years.

And here you are wasting time trying to argue over something that doesn't benefit your point in anyway whatsoever.

                        • +2

@NovaAlpha: I think it's $10 (after cashback) for 5 years vs $50 for a lifetime. So this post still has some value. Did you overlook the cashback bit?

                          • -2

@xsolider: All the cashback does is that it adds a referral header to the URL and activates that in your Cashrewards account. Once you have made the transaction, your Cashrewards will initiate the cashback process.

Basically, as long as you know what the referral header is, you can just append it to the site like this:
                            https://www.ivacy.com/lifetime-vpn/?aff=22373&source=Aff&cha…

So you can still get the lifetime account from Ivacy and get the cashback.

Also, did you miss the comment I posted about getting 10% off if you signup with Stacksocial? If you buy the lifetime account from there with the discount applied, that should only be about $42 NZD. If it were me, I'd just spend the extra $32 and get lifetime account. Would I need it for a lifetime? Probably not. Do I care about spending the extra, measly $32? No. Spending an extra $32 to get lifetime is a bargain and I occasionally use VPN when I travel and to bypass certain things.

I know we're on Cheapies, but the savings we're trying to argue here is just so insignificant. Or perhaps that I just have way too much money to spend.

                            • @NovaAlpha: Ok, so it would be $10 for 5 years vs $42 for a lifetime. Personally, I would opt for the 5-year subscription. Five years is a sufficient duration to encompass all the new technologies. Who knows if people will still be using VPN after 5 years? Additionally, please be aware that you might need to exert extra effort to renew the subscription for free once the 5-year period is over. https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/177445/ivacy-lifetime-deal….

                              • @xsolider: I never had to contact them and the last time I logged into my account was 2~3 weeks ago. I've had my account for over 8 years at this point. But whatever, you guys can make your own purchase decisions.

Oddly, it appears that only one person is arguing… or maybe I just joined in :-)

                      • @Alan6984: The real chaos creator

                        • @billybob: Now now - don't put them off, it spoils the fun ;->

  • Quick note on the Cashrewards, found out the hardway that they don't transfer to NZ accounts only a verified paypal for us NZ users

    • Or just open an Aus account I guess - should be trivial if you already have a Wise account I would think?
