I don't usually bother with Entertainment Book these day's but $0.99 for 3 months is pretty good.
When you factor in that you have 90 days to activate I'm thinking I could do the following:

    • Buy a 3 month sub now for $0.99 activated straight away
    • Buy another 3 month sub under my wifes name but not activate it for another 90 days
    • Would give essentially 6 months for $1.98

Not sure what I would use it for but seems good value for 6 months.

    • +1

Can't agree more. Just getting a coffee once would recover $1. No brainer to get 3 months sub.

    • What's good about the second 3 months is that you'll have a second go at the coupons you've already used as well.

If the deal lasts 6 more days, you could just buy a second in a few days and activate the second one after the first expires?

      • +2

I just bought two either way. I’ll just have to remember and activate the second one in 3mos. You can have multiple active memberships in the app.

        • Can you not buy 3x since it's 90 days activation? Can you redeem the 3rd one before 2nd one expired?

          • +1

@doubledippps: You could buy as many as you like under different email addresses but the latest you can purchase is the 28th June.

You would then have 90 days to activate and it is then valid for 3 months from activation.

            • @bigcheese: Do I have to use different email? I'm able to choose quantity to purchase when I check out is that mean I can use the same account for 3x code? Thanks

    • You're able to choose the quantity of memberships you want to purchase at checkout - seems like one could do what you've suggested, but on the same account?

  • +3

i am new to this but seems like the app has really bad review and everyone has been rating 1 Star due to app not working as aspected and users are not happy paying for it too. Not sure if i should pay for it. I mean alternatively if you have First Table, can use that for 50% OFF on food prices and AIA Insurance or AA Membership Card, can get movie tickets cheap, does the job. Yeah i mean there maybe more deals on this but if the app is not working as it should be, no one would be happy paying for a membership.

    • The app is pretty crap compare to the old one. If you know what you're looking for then it's fine, you serach for it and select it, easy to redeem when needed. The problem for me is trying to see what is available somewhere I'm going to, eg Wellington. If you search for 'Wellington' you get nothing so you need to do a suburb search which can be 'Wellington' but the results seem to depend on how the address for the deal has been entered, I know somethings are missing, but it also changes the filters randomly so might only show 'take away' deals. So then you go in the reset the filter to Dining\All or just All. You can also look at all deals using the Map view, but that's just a mess unless you want to look at a very small area or filter down to a few categories. I've found their website worse, again, fine if you know exactly what you want to see, eg seeing if a specific business is part of it.

Hey look, there is a new version of the app now, wonder if it's better :D

      • App has been updated today, SO much better. Can search for BOGOF which is the main thing I'm after!! 😊 Bought two 3 month membership.

  • +2

I heard their app is really hard to search before. Is this still the case? Are St Pierres and Starbucks BOGOF still on there?

  • +3

You can install the app and browse without having a valid membership. I have had a membership for a few years now and the offerings are getting slimmer and slimmer.

  • +1

i completely disagree, there are quite a lot of good deals. e.g. dunkin donuts donut and coffee BOGOF, for some reason there were more than one of it, plus more deals, so i easily got my money back after a couple of months

  • The new app has been much more painful to use.
A lot of partners dropped out, at least in Welly, including without notice (find a place in app, show up, they say they don’t do entertainment book anymore, contact entertainment, they’ll “investigate”… waste of time)
I’ll give them another go at $0.99
You used to be able to buy jb hi fi and some other vouchers at a few percent discount, and a forum reply says you still can.

    • +1

You can apparently but JB Hifi vouchers but only at a 4% discount…
Do you recall what places dropped out in Wellington by any chance? I wonder if they’re still showing on the app

      • Yeah, I've also noticed a lot of places have dropped out - Siem Reap, Majestic Cuisine, Janus Bakkerij, La Bella Italia, Bellbird Eatery…

        • +1

Victoria St Cafe has been closed for over a year now and it’s still in the app.

      • The two that came to mind no longer show up.
I know a lot of places dropped out post covid lockdowns.

  • +1

Loads of shops in Christchurch disappeared. Big players like maccas all disappeared overnight, we used to like getting bogof coffee there as they never redeemed the vouchers.

Our biggest problem with the app is it's single user only, so if I log in it kicks my partner out who might use a vouchers when out with a friend.blain in the arse constantly signing in between us.

  • They used to be good 10 years ago, would recommend 3 Months for $0.99

  • +1

It used to be great when you can filter for BOGOFs in the app and there were heaps of places you can redeem, but now there aren't that many places doing BOGOFs any more and also shops can just drop out or change their offers any time they want. In saying all this, for $0.99, it will be a great introduction to those who haven't tried these yet. Good opportunity to try other cities I reckon!

    • +1

They have just released a new version in Android with the option to search for all deals type (25% off, BOGOFs and others).

      • yeah just updated the app and got the same. But now that the filter is available, it's looking even more depressing!! lol
Unfortunately, Luscious cafe and Kebab King also have dropped off from BOGOF offers in Auckland..

  • With a single city membership, can you still use franchise offers at another city, e.g. coffee club?

    • Probably can and depends on which store. Coffee club says New Zealand and no specific store location. Carls jr says all locations and st pierres sushi says all New Zealand locations.

  • +1

why is the offers page showing NSW deals when i selected location: Auckland?

Did we unionise with NSW while I was on leave?

all 25% in auckland, can't see any deal worth posting on cheapies.

maybe redeem for another city if posisble?

    • Happened to me when i didnt allow the app to access my locations. But once i allowed it, the Auckland stuff came up.

  • +2

Some of the offers my partner & I used in the past 12 month (May 22- May23) multi-city

Even Cinemas (multiple times, pay surcharge for larger seats)
    Baduzzi (Auckland)
    St Pierre sushi
    Ben & Jerry's
    Hangar (Wellington)
    Paasha (Dunedin)
    Gemmayza Street (Auckland)
    Reign & Pour (Auckland)
    Eight at Cordis Auckland
    Umu Pizza (Auckland)
    Mexican Cafe (Auckland)
    Baha Betty (Auckland)
    Bella Cucina(Queenstown)
    The Old Quarter (wellington)
    Din Tai Fund (Melbourne)
    Christchurch Gondola, punting &tram

    • can you please share what the event cinemas offer is exactly? I went on there and it just said special offer

      • from memory its about $33 for 2 standard admission tickets. then probably around $20 to upgrade for 2 tickets for bigger seats.

If anyone has a valid entertainment membership can check. Mine has lapsed.

      • If you're an AA member you can probably get a better deal on tickets at Event Cinemas

      • +1

I do not have an active membership but if I search "Eight" it does come up Eight at Cordis Auckland for 25% off total bill.

  • Thanks, bought one.

Has anyone had any trouble redeeming the 25% off when they've just ordered drinks? There's a few pub type places on the list where I'd be wanting to do that.

    • I tried the 25% off for a big group at Flamingo Joe's where we bought drinks and some bowls of fries, and they refused to honour it saying I needed to buy a meal.

  • +1

    Thanks, bought a couple.

Anyone having issues logging in? Keeps saying I’m not connected to the internet and that I need to check my connection. Well, definitely no internet issues and everything is loading fine except for this one app?

    • +2

      App is slow af !!!

constant connection issues, probably why less ppl use it and less business on it

Make sure you're filters are set to all to see whats available, for some reason its set to "new" by default

    • Got the same error but tried again it works. However the app is very very slow, I can't seem to find St Pierre from the app, or it could be just slow…

  • +3

    Also chuck in a charity,

i just started typing Wellington and it gave me a list, selected Wellington Free Ambulance, order says 40c will go to them (Bought 2x 0.99)

  • +1

Can’t believe people thinking about not buying this awesome deal for only 99 cents because the app is rumoured to be slow 🙄
As some have mentioned, even if you just use one voucher to get yourself a free coffee you save $5-6 and if you use for one meal out you can save 25% with no time restriction like First Table restricts you to.
Definately a bargain deal and if I didn’t already have the membership I would be jumping at the chance to do this.
By the way, the app has never caused me issues in redeeming offers over the years……

    • You still have 90 days to activate and you can use it with on different account.

And exactly my point for a $1 for 3 months more then enough you can save quite a bit. But oh well.

    • +1

The other advantage over First Table is that the Entertainment discount is off the total bill.
First Table excludes drinks (meal only) so this could be a good saving.

  • I'm buying and plan to use it for 50% WOF at AA. and like you said, BOGOF Coffee and you're gaining.

  • Bought and activated the 3 months offer last night. App login wasn't working last night but managed to login today. All offers are showing as redeemed already. So I checked active memberships under my profile and it says "Activate membership with code". Tried activating using the code I got last night and it says it's already activated. Tried calling them but they are closed for some system upgrade… Could be related to that?

    • They have a a system upgrade when running a big promo? Nice.

  • Does a coupon ever come back after you've used it? If so, after how long?

  • Can i no buy 3x since it's 90days activation? Can I redeem the 3rd one before 2nd one expired?

    • Yes. I think you can have multiple active at a time, but not sure how the coupons stack in that case. Why not create a new account?

    • Already have an existing Entertainment Membership? You have 90 days to activate your membership
Are you sure you want to activate now? If you have a current Membership, you can wait until it expires, you have 90 days to activate your new Membership. By activating your new Membership now, it will begin straight away and run alongside your current Membership.

      • Thanks, is that mean I don't have to create multiple account I can just buy 3x (I'm about to check out but then see I can increase the quantity to purchase) in one go and it will last me 9 months? (Of course I have to activate them every 3 months).

        • It should, but haven't tried it.

        • I took it to mean you have 90 days to activate from when you purchase.
When I had this a few years ago you could choose to activate within 90 days or else it auto activated after 90 days. It doesn’t state that explicitly but that is what happened before.

          You can always try it.
At worst you will lose only $0.99 for each one.

  • wow best deal I've seen from them ever

  • Just noticed the expiry date on this to purchase as per the terms is 01:59am, 27/06/23 for NZ, not midnight 28th June as currently indicated.
Essentially only one more full day.

    • Thanks. Updated

  • Was planning a trip somewhere this weekend and so automatically going to save $26 with this. Perfect no-brainer lol.

  • What shop did you guys get the coffee in Christchurch with 2 for 1?

  • +1

Silly me, completely missed this. Would happily have tried this out for 3 months at .99¢.

    • Extended until 2pm 30 June.

      • +1

Only the 12 & 24 month subs are extended.
The 3 month deal for $0.99 has ended.

        • Yup only the 12 & 24 month available, bugger.
If by chance anyone has a spare 3 month available they'd be happy to transfer I happily pay double the original price haha.

        • Oops. Missed that.

    • Darn I missed it too 🙃

  • Anyone know is the 10% off Supercheap Auto e gift card can be use in-store? I assume using it on clearance item won't be a problem?

  • +1

Here's a spare one if anyone needs it - didn't end up activating it as I'll be flying back to UK for the winter

    https://imgur.com/a/ubtsoop

    • I think the code is linked to the email. I could be wrong though.

    • I'd be happy to grab this off you if it's available. Thanks
