Great speaker in its -day I have one for about four years but unfortunately these Green washing carbon neutral companies are quite happy to see older smart tech end up as landfill. Google isn't the only one, D Link, Arlo, Netgear etc have dropped support for their older switch's routers and cameras. This JBL was about $400 four or five years ago and not some cheap appliance. I presume it will still work as normal but is not capable of newer AI functions and it will probably end up with a few glitches and get chucked out.

    • I did not know that, that will explain the price then. Lucky for me, most of my stuff is Google Home, I do have one JBL speaker though which I guess will stop working at some point.

    • Probably worth OP adding this to the post somewhere to warn/inform the non-comment readers

        Thanks, have done this

  • These have been around for a while, I think the google home hub is a better choice (unless you want the camera ? )

    • I have the Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen, JBL speakers being far superior to the nest and a larger display. But the Google nest has better smart features on the home app.

      • Interesting. I always found our jbl a bit tinny sounding compared to the google.

Which, granted, is odd considering the big woofer on the back

  • Its a pretty cool device, I use it at home all the time for music and it doubles as a digital photo frame as it can connect to Google Photos. Shame that it's being discontinued
