NordVPN: 96% Cashback (Uncapped) for New VPN Plan Customers @ Cashrewards

200

Hi all,
First post on Cheapies, however being a frequent OzB poster, I have a good idea of what to post! Hopefully, it's worthwhile and something that is handy to you guys!

Back again is this increase at NordVPN for new customers. Offer ends July 25 1:59am NZST.

Be sure to check the terms below and TA's handy tips here

And as mentioned in the terms below in bold don't add any of the upsold products. A lot of people do and wonder why their cashback is lower. If you make a mistake you can cancel for a refund.

Special Terms

Cashback is eligible for new NordVPN customers only.

Cashback is eligible only on NordVPN plans, and not on any up-sold products such as NordPass & NordLocker.

Cashback may be ineligible if using codes not listed on Cashrewards, and ineligible on any payments made with Crypto currency.

Cashback is calculated and paid on the advertised cost of the plan only. It will not include any GST, taxes, credit card or PayPal surcharges.

The amount that tracks to your Cashrewards account may differ to the paid amount due to international exchange rates. Your initial payment is converted to USD, then converted back to AUD when reported to us. The advertised cashback rate is based on the reported amount, not the paid amount. Cashrewards has no control over this process.

Enjoy!

  • So first time going through something like this so forgive my stupidity, I'm assuming I go to the offer on their site and purchase one of the standard plans, lets say 2 year one which has a discount already.
I'm paying $83.76usd, all said and done I should be receiving ~$80usd back through CashRewards?

    • +1

Yup - I did this about 18 months ago. Only thing to remember is cash back will take some time.

      • How much time

        • Cash reward site says Up to 95 days

          • @stuntah: Three months is a bit of a worry. Are they profitable ?

      • Cool thanks! I see you can withdraw into paypal or bank account. Are NZ bank accounts eligible for this?

        • At the moment you can only withdraw to Paypal in NZ, and its sent in AUD

        • You can first cash out to Paypal (will be AUD), then cash out the equivalent AUD to NZ bank account in NZD in Paypal.

Last month I've successfully managed to cash out and get paid into NZ bank account in NZD from previous NordVPN deal.

          • @fretrunner11: If you have wise, use AU bank account details and transfer from PayPal to wise with minimum fees. PayPal has one of the worst conversation rates.

            • @ace310: Did you have to put an Australian mobile number in? It doesn't me put any bank account number in because it says I'm in NZ

              • +1

@mattk1: Nz cashrewards > Au PayPal > au wise > nz bank

            • +1

@ace310: If you register with Cashrewards with a NZ address, there is no option to withdraw to an AU bank unfortunately.

              • @felixfurtak: Correct. As I mentioned, I transferred AUD from cashrewards to Paypal. Enter Wise AU bank account in Paypal and transferred to wise in AUD so no conversion fees.

Nz cashrewards > Au PayPal > au wise > nz bank

                • @ace310: That still doesn't work. My PayPal account will only let me link to a NZ or US bank, so PayPal to Wise AUD bank won't work.

I have done this few months back and surfshark 2 yrs back. Go through few old threads on this. It's not 96% cashback. Gst is excluded plus conversations. In all you might get around 85-89% cashback.

Another tip: select US state without any taxes like oregon and pay using wise in USD to get maximum cashback. Ot will still be reported in AUD( unless it's changed)

      • Could just get Surfshark instead with an 82% instant discount plus two months free on a two year plan. No waiting for 3 months for cashback then.

Surfshark and Nord are owned by the same company.

        • That's still $1.99 usd/month for 24 months. How is that cheaper 🧐. Plus that's a referral code anyway.

  • Goddangit I just signed up for 2 years on NordVPN yesterday

    • -1

Nord does offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. You could cancel, and then use the offer and make sure to use a new email for NordVPN.

      • I'm new to cashrewards.com.au, I simply create an account and click "Shop Now" and place an order on NordVPN using the affiliate link I'm guessing?

        • Should have used referral above to get additional $10.

Just a note - you need a Paypal account with a verified card to withdraw anything (or an Aussie bank account).

This is probably a non-issue for many. My card refuses to allow Paypal to do its test transfer and the local branch wasn't able to help, so it might be worth sorting the Paypal stuff before jumping on the deal.

NZ bank support has been coming soon… for an extremely long time.

    • By verified card do you mean a physical card, i.e. it's not possible to transfer to a PayPal account?

      • +2

Your paypal should be verified. To do that you will need to register your debit/credit card with PayPal. I think you can use wise card with PayPal but not sure if that works for verification as I have a very old account.

      • +1

It's only possible to transfer to a Paypal account or Aussie bank. On your Paypal account, you need to add at least one card where you have done "confirm your card". I imagine both physical and virtual cards, such as Wise, would work for this, but test it works for yourself.

  • Side note: NordVPN works for Kayo at the moment. No idea why. Signed up for another month last week. Worked well 98% of the time during the Warriors vs. Raiders game (on Android box).

I just bought Norton antivirus yesterday for $15 which includes Norton VPN. So, I don’t really need a new VPN then. I’m not streaming Netflix anyway.

  • In NZ, other than changing countries for Netflix, is there really a point in a VPN?

The only one I can think of is to secure your connection on public WiFi. Copyright holders going aganist pirates isn't too common.

    • +1

Or when you need to buy something/service from another country like Turkey. Nord has working Turkey location. Yes, there are free alternatives but sometimes good to have options.

      • Fair. Can't always rely on Windscribe free.

    • +1

Watching certain Australian channels (e.g., Channel 7 or Kayo) or being able to take advantage of other deals that require the use of a VPN.

    • lots of content are geo restricted

Sky NZ has the rights for most cycling content here.

so I need to use VPN + GCN plus to watch the races

there are pirate streams but the quality and the reliability is more than I can put up with so paying for the sub is worth it for me personally

at these prices it's not brainer really

  • +1

Here is my approved cashback for reference. Paid USD$83.76 and received AUD$109.39 minus transfer and conversion fees.

So if anyone wants to calculate the actual %, use above example.

  • Thanks Op - bought one.

  • It says doesn’t include upsold products, does that mean it’s only the standard plan? Or can I get the complete plan with this offer?

    • Standard plan. Just the VPN. Don't bother getting anything else as it's not worth it anyway. $83.76 for 2yr.

      • Cheers, was checking as I would’ve liked 1tb data and a password manager thrown in.

But I’ll take the VPN for cheap anyway.

        • I'd suggest Bitwarden for password management, it's only US$10 per year and is a great product.

  • Should you get a confirmation after purchase that the subscription payment has been linked to CashRewards?

    • You'll receive a tracking email from CR about 4 hours after purchase.

      • +1

Thanks, it came through within a couple of hours

    • As above, but in case it don't get tracked within few days, raise a ticket with CR and see. You have 30 days with Nord to cancel in case it doesn't work out.

  • Cashrewards also have 95% discount on Private Internet Access (PIA), offer ends on 26th July. https://www.cashrewards.com.au/store/private-internet-access

PIA seems to be slightly cheaper, USD $56 for two years.
