Who is the cheapest prepaid mobile carrier with max data in Au?

I know someone posted a deal somewhere reciently (that ends tomorrow) but I cannot remember who or where the post is.

Alternatively, I'm a couple of weeks on the Gold Coast from the 19th August. Hotel in theory has free wifi, but will need a number and a reasonable amount of data (I'm Kogan in NZ, so not going to use that).

I'll need two with data, and probably one that's more for just a number for emergencies (for a kids phone - they're Kogan too). So a "buy one" deal may work.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Oh, and assuming I get the original one linked and buy it tonight. How do I activate? Find a SIM for that company at at store and use that? My phone may do esim? (My watch does), but I'm actually not sure

  • I've used this as a guide in the past https://www.whistleout.com.au/MobilePhones/Guides/Best-phone…
I last was over there almost a year ago for a family wedding and ended up using kogan mobile as they had a $2 sim starter pack with 20gb data then got a bonus 10gb each also. I ordered them and had them sent to family over there ready for us when we arrived. Bought 10 of them and signed everyone up with wise card and bulk email addresses. You are required to use your passport or some ID I believe to make a phone account over there. We did with kogan anyway. It actually checks your passport number through customs data or something as in the country at the time of signing up.

Hope this will be helpful for you.

  • I have a place in Auckland and in the GC and move between them about 50/50 - im in the GC now - Use Kogan at home in NZ - In AU im using Boost - as it was pretty cheap and flexible and is one of the only ones which includes international calls without a fee. Its also on the telstra network which generally has the widest coverage and supports 5g and wifi calling (which is useful when im back in NZ)

They have a really good deal at the moment 50gb sim for $12 (normally 35) if your using more data than that then what in the world are you doing

    https://boost.com.au/products/35-prepaid-sim

As for the sims, they will ship them, but they are sold almost everywhere on stands (with a bunch of other companies aswell) places like Coles, Woolworths or JB Hifi etc for like $2 and then you go online and activate them and pick your plan.
