YouShop deal that came up.

Might make international freight pricing slightly more palatable (but not by much).

Help us celebrate the launch of the new You Shop portal with 20% off the cost of shipping! You can use the promo code NEWYOUSHOP20 as many times as you like up until 30 September 2023.

    Still too expensive.

    For example, take a 1kg parcel that's 30cm x 30cm x 30cm with a value of US$45.
Estimate is $126.01 shipping including GST.
That comes to over $100.80 including the discount.

Yeah you are preaching to the converted here. Still worth posting though. YouShop need to adapt their business model, generate domestic courier labels for parcels in the US, consolidate all NZ parcels into a large box in the US, dispatch to NZ on a weekly basis at a discounted rate. Like AliExpress do.

Agree, have to be really picky on how to make it affordable.
Saved $100 on a special order bunnings they were over charging on

Remember when You Shop used to be affordable…. Pepperidge Farm remembers.

    • The economy rate used to be so solid.

It was about 7 years ago when I last used them.

    • its been about 5 years,i would hate to think the cost to ship now.

  • Anyone have reliable alternatives? $40 to post a magazine from the states

Opas was not bad, and they had a referral and credit system which basically meant you got about 200USD worth of freight discounts free of charge. Unfortunately they were on-sold to another company
There are a couple of ideas in the link above, I am still researching alternatives.

I haven't used it myself yet but Ship 7 could be good - they have decently low rates, a good Trustpilot score (4.4/5) and a tax-free warehouse. Also, most importantly they don't charge the additional GST (at least for now). I used to use Planet Express, which purchased OPAS as mentioned below…they were reliable but rates were average and they charged a monthly cost to use the tax-free warehouse in Oregon. I sometimes worry about shipping big-ticket items through these forwarders though, not sure if there'd be much recourse if they just device to 'lose' your item. Seems to be the only benefit of using something locally based like YouShop.

      • Nice! will check it out
