Hi all, have recently gotten myself a chest freezer. Keen to pick up a vacuum sealer and some bags - haven't seen any deals recently. Any tips or models to keep an eye out for? I've not used one before.
Vacuum sealer options?

considering it because im a hoarder but only live in a small household, so not sure if the costs to run it is worth the extra freezer capacity….
I haven't noticed a bit difference in our power bill but agree it only makes sense if you've got reason for it! We do bulk buy milk and bread and meat when there's good deals and freeze a lot of meals too, but really depends on your circumstances.
I had some decent deals from kogan in the past for the bags. Vacuum sealer is just which ever one you can find on special? I got mine long ago from Amazon AU for around $60.
Chest freezers use about 250 kwh power per year, which comes out to ~80 dollars a year. The Sunbeam Foodsaver one is the classic and seems to last a while. I got mine from Mitre10 on a price beat for around $100, and while I was waiting the guy next to me said he had the same one from over a decade ago still going strong. There are cheaper options like Kogan etc which do the job but won't last as long. You can buy replacement rolls from aliexpress or get them similarly with price beats at Mitre10.
I've been researching these myself and it seems that the consumer models should ideally be avoided since they fail fairly consistently.

Its been good, i mainly use it when i buy large packs of meat on special. Eg. Whole rump, portions of pork belly, drums sticks, large legs of lamb that I portion the shanks out of.
Not that cheapest out there, but suits my needs.Oz bargain has some that you can get via amazon.com.au
whihc chest freezer did you get?
