    Also $48 at Harvey Norman.

    • good spot

  • This is the part where you realise that you’re the product, not the customer. Everything you watch, every app you use, is reported back to Amazon and sold to advertisers targeting you based on identifiable data. Fun times. 😅

Same goes with Google tv as well.

And for Apple (though not so much being sold to third party advertisers) but all these stream boxes are the same you’re the product everywhere. They’re all fantastic Plex media players though lol

Assuming this was written in a browser, on either an android or iOS phone or windows PC. You're already being watched in some way shape or form🤣

This site here is no different, and our phones and other devices are no different. Christ, Google knows every face and word in the photos I take, it knows where I live, where I work, it knows my voice and when I wake up in the morning…

      It's just today's reality.

  • Is it worth looking at this if you already have google tv?

    • Nope

    • It has Wifi 6 (google TV and google TV 4k don't)
It has the new AV1 codec (google TV does too, but google TV 4k doesn't). Potentially useful if you have poor broadband or a data cap.

    • I have both and there's really no difference except if you're in the Alexa ecosystem or Google ecosystem. Both can control your smart things but, you also can control the volume on Google TV, input from the remote, where you cannot on the FS. Both use infrared to control sound bars or the television volume, On off. I do find the FS little more responsive.

I really hate Google's UI on both the GTV and their Nest Hub. It's too sluggish.

  • Was just about to buy this for $65 last week at the warehouse! So glad I didn't.

  • The lack of auto framerate matching on the Firestick did my head in and I sold it. Chromecast had the same issue but manually switching it wasnt nearly as hard

    • Ahhh so you get the juddering effect? Can you set it to 60 or 50 fps?

      • Yup the box itself will be set to 60hz, but it wont change if you watch a movie or anything with a different framerate (Glass Onion for example), this
is even tho Amazon claim to have support for apps to auto framerate match… they just dont work.

To manually change the framerate you have to hold a button and cycle through the options and it took forever to get to 23.96 or whatever the movie
        was filmed in

        • Ahhh that sounds painful. I should have picked up the Google tv chromecast when it was down at $55

        • Some TVs Can Remove Judder for 24p contents?

  • picked one up today, once you get past the setup quirks it's really good. great deal for the price
