210

Full credits to xngbac who came up with this in OzBargain (Australian version of Cheapies).

Although the description below says use a Australian payment account, I used a Wise New Zealand card and it still worked.

Copy and paste of his description:

Saw this yesterday on Ozbargain. For me this feels very unethical. Hats off to the guy who did all the steps though. Not for me.

Furthermore, if Im storing shit online, they are probably something important like my kid's photos. If I have to worry about the account getting shut down at some point and I have to back up my back up (I already do, but I don't want to do it just to cover this scenario), it's not worth it.

      • Same for me. I don't bother with any of these VPN or whatever hacks for storage, I just pay the normal price

If you want to save money legitimately on Google One/photos storage, install Google Rewards. You answer surveys about shopping for Google play credit. I sometimes get over $1 for saying yes I went into Mitre 10 yesterday, bought something and paid by credit card. Set your payment method for Google One to google play credit. If you're short for an upcoming monthly fee, buy a Google play voucher and top up the balance beforehand. Just checked my rewards app and I earn around $75 of credit a year through these surveys.

          • @Rubenite: Do you mean install the app on mobile? Just tried on iOS & got app not available in your region!

            • @quebec: @quebec Yes I just mean the mobile app. I'm on android so can't help - strange that it says that though

            • +1

@quebec: The app only works for iOS in the US, you get to transfer it through paypal on ios which I wish android allowed!

yea, dont do that, you see many posts about photos being randomly removed and good luck contacting google to get them restored.

This happened to me on Mega, only i had a paid account and i didn't realize my account had stopped renewing and then all my files got deleted, don't be me…makes me feel sick even thinking about it 1 of my kids baby photos all gone.

      • I doubt Google will catch on to this quick. I'm still using glitches for unlimited Google Photos since years ago.

        • +1

Doesn't need to be quick to be disastrous.

          • @ABCDEFG: So like, 50 years later and you're probably already dead. Do you still care at that point? How long is a piece of string? It's all relative.

    • so true, thinking google out of all places wont find out is pretty naive. id prefer paying knowing all my data is always available.

  • magic link seems 404 now

Go to the ozbargin post, dunno why its linking to cheapies and cant edit it.

      • I used 'tokenized.play.google.com'

        • SSL included by default when executed the url in chrome

          • @rick: haha, sorry that wasnt a reply to you, but @doublejaypotato in regards as to why the link is pointing to cheapies

For some reason it worked after having added a payment method, I guess it's because of cookies. Thanks OP ^_^

$3,059.88 per year x 67 years = $205,011.96. Google won't let this fly. Don't link to your main accounts until the dust settles.

      Too late now! :D

create a dummy gmail account for this before you try.

Now this is the type of Cheapies deal that gets me excited. Just tried it and it works woot.

There's also the unlimited Google Photos glitch, where you share photos (from a secondary account) with your main. On your main, you then save the photo to your own library (which doesn't count towards your storage and it actually says on the photo's information page). You then unlink that share from your secondary account and delete the photo, freeing up space. Rinse and repeat. The photo will be in Original quality.

I'd say this clearly falls under the definition of hacking and I wouldn't be surprised if Google bans you for doing this.

The person that found this should've claimed a bug bounty from Google.

    After Step 4:

    30 TB (Google One)
We are unable to change your subscription plan. Manage subscriptions.

    Looks like google fixed it.

Never wanna do this kind of hack (cheat) thing again… Got a 3- year Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at a very low price before, by creating new account, changing region, balabala… then after 3 montha baned by Microsoft… lost all my saved data…

  • +1

They didn't even come up with it, and yet got all of the credit. It was posted on a Vietnamese forum before they did.

  • Well, waiting to see if the account's going to get banned :D
    Good while it lasted

  • Step 4: "Copy the new link into your new tab to your browser" > We are unable to change your subscription plan

  • Should’ve stayed mum on this one m80

my throwaway account got banned lol. Didn't even upload data to it.
