How do we know that the petrol companies here will actually lower the price, they've already gotten people used to paying this much and most people don't have much of a choice

Update: 1416 hrs, still 2.039$/L for 91, 3.039 on the display though.

How much did we save ?: Ok sadly it's gone. But I got in before that and saved 92 cents per litre, 91 petrol, compared to my typical Epsom area discount fill-up price of $ 2.89 or so. Close on a saving of $38 for my fill-up on my small 1 5 litre car. :)

That's no good Jinxnz. It's happened to me in the past and I'm sure other Cheapies too. Sharetank Dudes comment to try to double check Caltex's app pricing before committing to try to get a super cheapie deal is a good tip , if you can get the app to display the particular Caltex station - distance location. :)
They have a gas tank delivery truck there. I think the price will go back to normal once they refilled the gas station.

Sharetank in Christchurch is 2.72 for 91 currently which is weird as I can't see any stations nearby at that price. Cheapest I can see is 2.93

Z Rangiora has it for $2.72. It looks like there's cheaper petrol out that way at the moment. NPD Rangiora is $2.62.

Yup… well kinda… choose Hamilton… then 95 and change range to 100km(max)…. thatll show a lsrge majority of the first half of NI… Then place it in Waioru… and the same…
The best way is to choose the "Fuel Map" icon at the bottom, then select the i icon on the left just above the Google logo. Then you can zoom in/out to find the lowest price and search for it's location on the map
@Harebrainedkiwi: I’ve tried this, it doesn’t work 100% of the time. Not sure why. It’ll show a lower value with my Z discount applied. But when I click into it, the pump price is way higher than other stations.
@NeverLucky: Interesting. I've only needed to do it a few times, and although it can be a bit clunky zooming in and out (the lowest price can be slightly outside the visible map needing to pan around the area), I have always been able to track down the cheapest station.
Just tried it now, for Z 95 the cheapest is Z Rangiora $2.919

Was half way through fueling up when they realised and changed the price. Charged me the new higher value even though the app showed the cheaper amount when I started the fuel up. Went it and refused to refund me even with a screenshot, calling asb to dispute the credit card transaction now.
That means they cancelled your sale, ans did an manual one.
One the pump is going, you cant change the price displayed as that function is locked.
Itll be interesting… but in the future always check the pump price as the app price does state 'subject to change without notice'
The app showed the price which I have a screenshot of when I started to fuel up, paying in app. So ASB should easily be able to win the chargeback.
