Non-processed meat and fresh vegetable deals would have been nice.
Good point.
The mayonnaise is at a good price tho
Whats a good much moore icecream flavour? Found them airy in the past
I like the Salted Caramel.
Also the Limonatta but I don't think Countdown range that one.
A bit of an underwhelming one-day sale. Only a few dollars off most things.
Heineken and mayo seem to be the only thing that has a decent saving? And Treasures baby wipes if you need them.
Maybe, don't normally buy that brand and according to the table above it's only a potential savings of 50c (depending on the "Approximate common price")
I could easily imagine buying 10 of them or something if it's something you use a lot so it might still be a decent saving. (But whenever I've used wipes I've never cared about brand so $2.50 doesn't seem like a good price but I guess some people might care.)
Gotta fund that rebrand from Countdown —> Woolworths somehow!
Note that Much Moore Ice Cream is not ice cream.
Most or all of the Wonders range is, at least according to New Zealand standards. Otherwise it wouldn't say it's ice cream on the box. It's also called ice cream on the Much Moore site https://www.muchmoore.co.nz/ (The Premium range sold by Pak'nSave is also generally ice cream.)
You might be thinking of the Marvels range which is often frozen dessert and not ice cream, but that's what it's called on the box, not ice cream.
I thought you could also rely on the fact that Countdown calls it ice cream, but I see Pakn'Save does call the Marvels stuff ice cream on their site, so not sure about that. I suspect if you complain to the right people it'll eventually get changed. Maybe one of the problems is their website designers weren't good enough to make it appear when people searched for ice cream without actually calling it ice cream in a visible way on their site.
Note the Tony's range comparison is actually fairly complicated because of the different pack sizes and the fact they aren't all the same. I think this is the current pricing comparison:
Chicken Cordon Bleu
7 Tony's, 6 Leader
$14 for Tony's equivalent to $12 for LeaderBBQ Beef Burger Patties
24 Tony's, 20 Leader
$14 for Tony's equivalent to $11.67 for LeaderHerb & Parmesan Chicken Schnitzel, Pork & Apple Schnitzel, Chicken Schnitzel, Southern Style Chicken Patties, Quarter Pounder
10 Tony's, 8 Leader
$14 for Tony's is equivalent to $11.20 for LeaderBBQ Pork Riblet
8 Tony's, 6 Leader
Southern Style Chicken Sticks/Dippers
800g (26 sticks) Tony's vs 600g Leader (I think these are correct)
$14 for Tony's equivalent to $10.50 for LeaderLasagne Toppa
9 Tony's, 6 Leader
$14 for Tony's equivalent to $9.33 for LeaderNote that Tony's has Mac & Cheese Toppas and Leader has Bacon & Cheese Toppas. These are possibly unique to each range although I'm not sure.
I've compared by number of items for most of them, but if you compare by weight you'll generally get the same result. I'm fairly sure these are exactly the same items, Tony's is made by Leader. (It's even on the same website.) At least at West Auckland Pak'nSaves I often see $11 for Leader, and sometimes $10. In fact just 2 weeks ago they had 2 for $20 at Lincoln Road. So for most of these Pak'nSave is better. But Lasagne Toppas are the odd one out where this $14 was actually a better deal. Sadly, perhaps not totally coincidentally, all 4 stores I visited were out of stock of the Lasagne Toppas.
Be warned these pricing comparisons could change at any time due to shrinkflation. In fact in January 2022 people were complaining about Tony's Lasagne Toppa going from 12 to 11, but it's now at 9! https://www.reddit.com/r/newzealand/comments/rwj0rj/psa_tony… I think all of the items are the correct current quantities based on the online shopping websites but I didn't have time to check in store and as said not everything was in stock anyway. (I assume with online shopping the stores make far more of an effort to kept their details up to date with shrinkflation since it's probably legally problematic if your website says it's 11 Toppas and the product that arrives is 9.)
BTW if you like Toppas, it's well worth trying the chicken and mashed potato toppas and the fish and chips toppas. These are available in bags at some Pak'nSaves, generally stocked in the nugget, burger etc freezers. (The Leader and Tony's stuff seems to often be stocked in the fish freezers.)
New World too has one day sale, though not huge discounts like in the past
