Yep, just managed to get about 20L of 91 at $2.387 at PaknSave Westgate - couldn't even fill my tank, they ran out as I was pumping!
Well that is interesting….. We have Brent crude oil futures trading up now into the $ ninetees USD, the growing threat of a Gulf Mid East war and so probably oil supply blockades…. But Gull suddenly pushes abit of a price war into the NZ petrol pricing market. I mean $2.48 a litre 91 petrol at Gull Whenuapai here in Akl !!!. :) (Stranger still as that includes the 12 cent Auckland regional s…t tax). And Gaspy's price reporting where indicating this morning that at just $2.48 a litre, it was equal to or just a hair above the cheapest 91 pump pricing in the whole of NZ…. !.
It is interesting, but there are ways to get around that fuel tax quite easily for them.
I suspect very strongly that the prices we have seen over the last 48 hours are the bottom and completely unsustainable.
Dont forget, it takes between 18-24 days for the oil to reach New Zealand, so on the way up will shock many people if we stay at these levels.
I went to the Gull in Onehunga around 11am, the traffic was insane in every direction, people getting stuck getting in and out. Please go at night for these big sales, it's way too packed during the day. 67 confirmations on gaspy which is the most I've seen.
Check your local Pak'nsave and your NPD first. Rumour has it that they will be the same price as yesterday until midday due to the NPD promotion.
