Combine this with 40% Uber eats offer

  • spend $120 to get the maximum cashback of $30

  • KFC givem5

  • I tried using dosh and I didn’t find it handy in my case. When a shop has surcharge for credit I swap to debit and miss the airpoints. To use dosh you need to effectively choose “credit” when paying provoking the surcharge I was avoiding in first place and defeating the purpose of using debit.

    • Isnt the surcharge added manually?

      • I would say 99% of the time the eftpos machine does the surcharge automatically. I have seen it being manually before added but not in a long while.

What airpoints? Dosh just gives you cashback.

And Dosh is a debit card. You don't have a credit limit.

I’m not sure you understood my comment. I meant I try pay everything with credit so I can ear airpoints but, when there is a surcharge, I switch to debit and I miss the points. With dosh you get surcharge if the shop has surcharge for credit because dosh needs you to choose “credit” to use their card. The cashback benefit with dosh is only worth using at shops that don’t have surcharge on credit, and, if a shop doesn’t have surcharge on credit, I might as well just use my airpoints card.

A fair comment and I do similar, but given the highest surcharge I’ve seen was 3.5% and I gave them a serve, and this discount/cash back is 25% it’sa pretty good deal.

Honestly, those surcharges are mostly BS. Eftpos costs anywhere from 0.6 to 1.4% from what I have seen, visa/MC 1.9-2.5%

No surcharge for debit even though the difference is (again, from what I’ve seen) at most 1%

If your business is failing on the 1% then you have other structural issues that will not be fixed this way.

Sorry, bit of a rant but all transactions cost the business

In most places you have to select credit card if you want to use Dosh. So if they have surcharge, effectively you are paying more than the cashback.

        • Yeah I understand that. I thought I could select CHQ to pay though. I'd need to verify that again.

@NovaAlpha: You cant use check or savings, as that is going via eftpos on NZ retailers terminals so there is no fee payable so dosh would have no income to pay for the use of the card.

          • @NovaAlpha: Nope tried it yesterday, it declined.

Don't forget you can go through old Uber eats orders and change the payment method, free money if you've been ordering enough.

    • what do you mean? preyyu sure payments come out straight away.
or are you saying they reverse the payment and charge the new card?

      • +10

Yes. Go to a recent past order, view the order, tap view receipt and there's a button saying change payment method. It refunds your original card and charges your new selected method (Dosh).

        • Cheers. managed to do that on the 2 past orders and switched it to my Dosh card

        • A true hero!

        • Ooo awesome hack!

        • Great tip on the hack, thanks! 👀

        • So is this a hack to get interest free credit?

e.g. order on Ubereats on credit card (one you pay off in full each month). Before the payment date you go into and change the payment method to another card. You then get another 44 days interest free or whatever before you have to pay. Rinse and repeat back and forth and you're effectively kicking the payment can down the road indefinitely.

    • How long does it take for this to be processed? I had to fill out a form.

      • My first 3 from this month happened straight away, the 4th i had to fill out a form, but seems it'll take a few days, so just made a dinner order from another ubereats acc instead.

      • Instant for me, order was in the past couple of weeks, might be longer for an older order
