I searched within Auckland CBD, and I think it works in North Shore too.

Thanks. Worked for me.. (Blockhouse Bay)
What's the price for 91? I'm not in AKL.
2.859 for me
Thanks, that makes the 95 price more like a price error.
Is this a sharetank thing?
yes - you find the nearest within 30km and top up your account.
awesome, i usually use 91. guess the car will be on 95 for a while thank you
Sharetankdude says buy buy buy! ;)
Thanks OP , never bought 95 so a nice xmas treat .
Z App is down?
Down for me too
Z app keep rejecting my payment for some unknown reason … I can see the hold hitting the card but then it's rejected :(
Now it can't find that price - maybe they fixed it
They have fixed it now it seems. North Shore now showing $3.049
Managed to hop onto this as soon as I saw it. Cheers OP!
Are they going to try and refund? I might go use mine asap
Not available waterview 2.85
They fixed it.
Thanks OP. Just got 200L. My Toyota Corolla usually uses 91. I am not sure if I can use 95.
AFAIK, you can use it, but it's not good for your engine if it's not designed for 95.
Quite the oppsoite ASAIK… It just wont perform as well as a car thats designed for it. Apparently it can only be better…
98 on the other hand is a different story!
This will be fine for his engine. The RON used for octane in petrol is about it's resistance to detonation.
Using a lower octane in an engine that requires high octane could result in engine damage (depending on how aggressive the tune is). At best it means lower performance, at worst it turns your engine into an anchor.
Using higher octane in an engine designed for lower octane is usually just a waste of money as the engine can't take advantage of it.
Short answer: it's fine to use 95 when you normally use 91.
It will be 100% fine, and it will NOT damage your engine.
(The higher octane is just to prevent high compression engines from knocking.)
Damn… missed this… nice work OP
@zmwang - just curious, how did you come across this? I normally monitor the cheapest prices across the country on Gaspy here:
https://www.gaspy.nz/stats.htmlProblem is, that only shows the top 5 cheapest for 91, not 95. I normally top up 91, but obviously today's deal for 95 was a pricing error and it was cheaper than 91, so I'm thinking of monitoring 95 as well. I went through Gaspy and favourited ALL the Z stations across the country for 91 and 95. By doing that, I can sort all the Z stations from cheapest to most expensive for either 91 or 95 easily, without running into the 99km limitation. But I'm thinking of automating this process even more, perhaps I can use Macrodroid or Tasker to automate this a bit. Just keen to know what your process is.
I actually reached out to gaspy and asked for an api access so i can make a page that specifically showed this information (offered to do it for free for them so they can still monetize it) but they didn't want to.
That's a neat trick you are using, but sounds painful to favorite all the z stations =/
One of the tricks I use is that I added a $2 discount for z on gaspy, so all the z stations show up at the very top (do some mental maths to get the actual price) - but you still have to do the whole 100km search around different locations.
I would also appreciate other better suggestions!
I also asked gaspy if they could add a filter to filter out/in specific gas stations (so only show z), they said they will think about it.
That's what I was using initially. But the 99km limit is annoying and I found that I miss certain deals if I just rely on that initial trick.
By adding all the Z stations to favourite (both 91 and 95), you are guaranteed to always get the cheapest station at the very top of the list. If you then take a backup of the Gaspy app (using Swift Backup or whatever), you can easily take that with you to a new device.
I also reached out to Gaspy regarding their API. In fact, I tried to reverse engineer and couldn't get much out of it. I ended up automating the client side. Now, I can just have Gaspy launched automatically, check both the 91 and 95 prices and then do a webhook to notify me. I don't have to check manually anymore. This can be done using Tasker or MacroDroid.
No better way except keep refreshing.
Thank you so much OP. Perfect timing to top up my 95 Sharetank as it was running low.
confirmed, works in the North Shore and Auckland City area.
