Fly in style on one of the best airlines in the world - 5-star Hainan Airlines - to Beijing for less!

There are slightly cheaper flights to mainland China but a) not on a 5-star airline and b) not to Beijing!

Just flew on them to SZX, the load factor on the Tuesday flight is abysmal at something like 30%, so you can probably grab your own skycouch.

Also AFAIK you'll be required to get your luggage and re-check in at SZX, as the international arrivals area there is tiny, and I didn't see any transfers desk around.

  Can second this - flew with them to Shanghai in Sept and back in Oct both on Saturdays. Not particularly full - roughly estimate about 60% full.
  
  Can confirm you need to collect and re-check in luggage on International-Domestic Transfer at Shenzhen, so definitely need several hours in between the transfer (we missed domestic flight with a 3-hour window due to a 1 hour delay in taking off from Auckland).
  
  IMO it seemed about the same as Air NZ (4-stars), if not slightly worse - so not sure the 5-stars is worth paying extra for.

      Service was good there - rebooked us into another flight a couple of hours later with no fuss.
