Hi everyone,
Has anyone purchased a dishwasher in the past five or so years and got any recommendations? or even any brands/models to stay away from?
Budget is around the $1k mark. Installation/removal would also be required.
Cheers

Yeah the price is going to be the biggest challenge here tbh. I only have good things to say about Bosch fwiw.
I rate Bosch as well.
Bosch as well. Managed to pick up a nice used one for $200, no complaints 3 years on.
I have a Parmco dishwasher just because it's there on the house that I purchased. Works OK do the basic stuff but if I have a say on purchasing dishwasher myself, I wouldn't get this brand.
Where did you buy your Bosch from? Experience with delivery/installation?
Don't bother with Samsung unless you can get it for a steal, not as nice a quality as one would expect for the price IMO (we paid $900 for ours on special)
I would also avoid the ones that advertise a dedicated cutlery tray. We took ours out after a week as it was mission to load every day + you lost headroom on the bottom draw as the top draw had to be lowered…
I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum here. You'd have to pry my top level cutlery tray from my cold, dead hands.
I got this one about 6 months ago for $1219, but then they charged approx $100 for installation and removal of the old one. Gets very good consumer reviews. Happy with it so far.
which one sorry, can't see a link
Sorry not sure what happened there! https://www.harveynorman.co.nz/whiteware/kitchen/dishwashers…
It’s funny, I went into the store and they quoted me $200 for delivery, install and removal. For this same model
@hummerh40: Hmm well it was six months ago, I might have gotten the exact figures wrong - I definitely think it was less than $200 though, that's really steep! You could always see if there's a whiteware recycle business or charity in your area - they may come and collect the old one for free or very cheap.
@joshtnz: Scrap metal dealers will also take them for free, they may even flick you a fiver for it!
@CheapAzChips: These are great ideas, thanks both! Saved me a couple hundred
Fisher and Paykel dish drawer (the larger version). Must be close to 5 years old, use it daily, no problems thus far.
We have a smaller kitchen so went with a single large dish drawer rather than regular size. If doing a single dish drawer I would recommend the larger one as a single standard drawer would be too small for most.
Had a girlfriend long ago that "punished" me by banning me from housework if I didn't do it to her standards.
Should have married her, best dishwasher ever. She was hot too, im an idiot for letting her get away :)
$120-160 depending on if you need the oldie disposed of through noel leeming.
That pushes you down a bunch. If you're able bodied, you can fit a dishwasher into most cars and installation is normally pretty straightforward (the issue now is some cabinetry doesnt have a big enough cutout, which noel leeming wont cut anyway, to feed tubes. The $120 fee was sometimes questionable as they charge it if you're 40 or 4 kms from the store, but if you have stairs or difficult accessibility it's definitely worth the fee.
Got the cheap Westinghouse from HN last year. First one was Dead on Arrival (their words) so got another one. It's fine but leaks now and then with a certain configuration of dishes inside… Meaning to see if we can get it replaced again
Can't rate Miele highly enough based on our experience. You won't get one new at that price, but maybe used?
